Paramount Chief Kyungu of Karonga and Chitipa has commended the country’s President Arthur Peter Mutharika for his vision and plan of curbing hunger situation in the country. Kyungu made his speech on Friday during the meeting held at Baka community ground in Karonga which was graced by the President as well as government officials.
Kyungu also commended the President for helping people affected with floods.
“We all agree that hunger has indeed affected us this year due to the floods and drought, but as chiefs
and community of Karonga and Chitipa, we are satisfied with the plan that you have put forward
to deal with the situation and we know that nobody will die of hunger,” said Kyungu.
Kyungu added “donors are also coming up with different donations to compliment your efforts.”
While concurring with Kyungu, Karonga North-West Member of Parliament John Bond Kamwambi asked the President to bring irrigation farming claiming the district has enough water.
Before conducting the rally, President Mutharika visited over 1000 people affected by floods in April this year where he donated K5 million.
