LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Malawi needs quality education if it is to become an inclusively wealth and self-reliant nation as espoused in the Malawi 2063.

This was expressed by the Principal Secretary (PS) for Basic Education Dr. Rachel Chimbwete Phiri at the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS) when she presided over the launch of Quality Education For All Project which is being implemented by Pathway Consultancy Limited; an organisation established by students of the Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST) and MUBAS.

The PS observed that in recognition of Malawi government through the Ministry of Education has embarked on several projects aimed at enhancing quality of secondary education in the country.

Dr Chimbwete Phiri said among other things the ministry is constructing new secondary schools, expanding existing secondary schools, constructing science laboratories, and expanding virtual and digital laboratory space through an initiative called my MI Lab which Mzuzu University has developed.

All these efforts are possible with financial support from various development partners, such as the UNDP, USAID and World Bank among others.

The PS thanked Pathway Consultancy Limited for launching the project which aims at supporting Communality Day Secondary Schools (CDSSs) in the provision of quality education.

She noted that the initiative was very critical in the realisation of the Malawi 2063 especially that enabler number 5; Human Capital Development, can only be achieved through quality education.

She then called upon other organisations to emulate the example set by Pathway Consultancy Limited in promoting quality education in the country.
