LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The Standard Bank Platform UNAYO which is used to receive and transfer money among other things has now become name of every households in the country.

However to increase their fan base, the bank is conducting the tour in the villages of Northern part of Malawi aimed at letting people know the platform.

Standard Bank also started sponsoring Regional division one football league under the Platform UNAYO and have pumped in MK46 million which has been shared into three regions NRFA,CRFA and SRFA. Each region is getting MK15.3 million per annum.

During the signing of the MOU between Football Association of Malawi and the bank, agreed to be the win win deal and the sponsor estimated to reach out to 100,000 customers.

Alinafe Pondamale, Projects Manager at Standard Bank, who is leading the tour in the north described the tour as vital saying people will be notified about the UNAYO platform which can also be used to save money.

He revealed that currently the bank has surpassed the estimated number of customers to be reached citing the regional leagues they are Sponsoring have played a great role to reach this stage.

“We will continue with these activities so that many people are reached and know UNAYO platform, our target was to develop sports from the grassroots which is happening now.Let me recommend NRFA and FAM for well patronage of the games”, Pondamale narrated.

After the parade on Saturday which started from Songwe Boarder to Lupembe School,later in the afternoon Mbawa Young Stars played Usisha Bombers in a fierce Lupembe Darby.

Usisha Bombers shined as they won the match by two goals to nil,scored by Sauli Manda in the dying minutes of first half before Shako Shangulu sealed the score line at 73rd minute.

The two teams displayed exciting football in front of thousands who gathered at Lupembe ground.

Masiye Nyasulu, Northern Region Football Association General Secretary, said UNAYO division one league has taken shape as they are witnessing stiff competition amongst the teams.

He added Standard Bank has helped the region in football development especially grassroots as they are able to have division one league which the whole region is participating.

“We have 50 teams which have been grouped in Zones as for the past years we lacked the division one league which could cover all districts in the region.

“Let me assure Standard Bank that as a committee we will continue organizing games in a professional manner so that UNAYO becomes name of every household in the north”,.

Standard bank staffs have already toured Rumphi, Karonga and they will reach as far as Chitipa.

The same exercise is expected to take place in other regions Central and Southern.
