
BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)— Malawi, a country that confirmed its first three cases of the novel Coronavirus Thursday April 2 this year and the 50th African nation to be infected, has seen a surge in Covid-19 cases hitting 4000.
According to Ministry of Health –Malawi COVID-19 National Information Dashboard, there are now 4078 confirmed cases including 114 deaths. Cumulatively, 1,875 cases have now recovered bringing the total number of active cases to 2,089.
Malawi saw a surge in COVID-19 cases soon after the former ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) started evacuating citizens from South Africa, the country hit hardest in the African Continent.
