LILONGWE (Maravipost) Former minister of Civic Education, Who is also former Human Rights Defenders coalition Leader, Timothy Mtambo, dismissed social media reports of him apologizing to Democratic Progressive Party DPP leader Arthur Peter Mutharika, attributing the claims as cheap propaganda.
In an interview with Maravipost on Monday, 22 September, Mtambo said he is focusing on the future of AFORD which is ready to collaborate with all political parties.
“I have no time for childish and cheap propaganda. As Aford we are focused into the future and we are going to collaborate with all political parties who are ready to liberate Malawians from the sufferings they are currently facing,” said Mtambo.
He said AFORD’s agenda is to liberate Malawians, and no amount of propaganda will stop them.
The Picture of Mtambo and Chisale started the false stories
He then clarifies that moment that seemed he shook hands with Chisale, and at the request of the attendees, they exchanged caps. Chisale’s cap bore the initials “APM,” while Mtambo’s cap represented Aford, which is democracy in action, not what people are cooking up.
DPP also refute the claims through the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Shadrek Namalomba in a letter.:
LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)–A key witness in a case in which former presidential security aide Norman Chisale is accused of forging academic qualifications to join the military, on Friday, December 4, 2020 told court that two individuals linked to Chisale both sat for the Junior Certificate of Education (JCE) with contrasting fortunes.
One Pythias Hiwa passed his examinations while a Norman Chisale failed at the same examination centre, Nsipe Community Day Secondary School (CDSS) in 1995, former Malawi National Examination Board (Maneb) executive director Gerald Chiunda told court.

Chiunda told the court that Maneb records show that both Hiwa and Norman Chisale attempted JCE once and that both Hiwa and Chisale were students at Nsipe CDSS.
The prosecution, which paraded three witnesses, accuses Chisale of using someone else’s JCE to secure a job at the Malawi Defence Force (MDF) where he worked before becoming head of Mutharika’s security detail until the 2020 elections that removed the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) from power.
Chiunda told the court that some of the grades Chisale obtained in his JCE attempt were English (F), Chichewa (D), Bible Knowledge (F), Geography (F), History (F) and Mathematics (F).
Earlier, another witness, chief of human resources at MDF Major General Alick Mhone told the court that the accused was enlisted in the MDF as a recruit under the name of Pythias Hiwa Chisale on September 6, 1996.
Mhone further testified that after Chisale served for some years, he changed his first name, replacing Pythias with Paulos and started using Paulos Hiwa Chisale as his full identity.
The officer said the MDF has the original name and records upon which Chisale had been enlisted and told presiding magistrate Shyreen Yona Chirwa that a JCE cerfificate then was the minimum requirement for military recruits.
The matter has since been adjourned to December 17, 2020.
Speaking outside court, one of the lawyers for Chisale, Gilbert Khonyongwa said the defence was satisfied with how cross-examination of witnesses took place.
“We are happy with cross-examination. We were able to raise the questions we wanted to ask and we will be waiting for the resumption of the case because it’s the State that has asked for the adjournment,” said Khonyongwa.
One of the State lawyers, Pirirani Masanjala, said the case was proceeding as planned in all three charges, namely: intimidation, impersonating a person with a certificate and giving false information.
“Everything is going as we expected it. We will finish with all the witnesses when we resume,” said Masanjala.
On November 30, 2020 the court dismissed an application by Chisale’s lawyers, Chancy Gondwe, Gilbert Khonyongwa and Fostino Mayele to pend court proceedings, saying they wanted the court to review preliminary issues of the case.
Chisale is answering numerous criminal charges including murder, money laundering and fraud.
Former presidential security aide Norman Chisale is expected to spend more days in the cooler as the judge who was supposed to preside over his bail application case has gone on leave.
Chisale was recently charged with the murder of Issa Njauju who until his death was Director of Corporate Services at the Anti-Corruption Bureau.
Lawyer for Chisale, Chancy Gondwe has told Capital FM that the matter was supposed to be heard before Justice Fiona Mwale, but considerations now are to have the case heard by another judge.
Norman Chisale: to spend seven more days on remand
I know most people do not care that it is Chisale. Imagine If this was happening to you or your family. Justice is supposed to be blind. This is not a joke.just because it is someone we think is a villain does not make it right.
Justice is Blind: This expression means that justice is impartial and objective. There is an allusion here to the Greek statue for justice, wearing a blindfold so as not to treat friends differently from strangers, or rich people better than the poor ones.
Norman Chisale: to spend seven more days on remand
Once again, the High Court in Blantyre has reserved it is ruling on bail application for former President Mutharika’s aide Norman Chisale to next week Monday because the presiding Justice Kalembera has lost a relation in Zomba.
On Monday Chief Resident Magistrate’s Court in Blantyre ordered Chisale to be remanded for 7 days waiting for the state to commit the case to the high court.
The Magistrate Court in Lilongwe granted Chisale bail on Friday after he was arrested for his involvement in the purchase of cement using the duty-free privilege of Mutharika.
But the bail was short-lived after Police rearrested him on attempted murder charges crime, he committed last year in Blantyre.
Chisale is being kept on remand at Chichiri Prison.
The Facts on the assault are clear. as a reminder, Over-zealous Malawi Police re-arrested Chisale on a charge of assault which took place in Blantyre sometime back. Observers actually agree Chisale was the victim who defended himself and accidentally shot an innocent victim.
State prosecutor told the court that Chisale will be taken in custody for that charge. According to local media Chisale reacted furiously in court, saying: “It’s too much. I am a person too and I feel pain.”
However, the twist is that the Malawi Police were aware, the woman who was shot by accident, by a stray bullet fired by Mr N.P Chisale few months back has withdrawn her complaint at Soche Police Station.
Chisale was attacked by three notorious ruffians in Chimwankhunda in an effort to defend himself, he shot a bullet targeting them unfortunately the woman was passing by.
Initially the woman withdrew the case but unfortunately, she never put it in writing hence today she had to do it formally.
It must be noted the woman was beautifully compensated for the inconveniences caused and body injury.
The matter between the woman was clearly settled but Lazarus Chakwera is going back to MCP style of using arrests as way of intimidating opposition.
As it is now, there is no case for this issue anymore. As it is not manslaughter or attempt to murder, it was nothing but an honest and decent mistake that can be done or happen to anyone.AN ACCIDENT!
BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-A bandwagon of Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) cadets led by Blantyre based notorious Mike Chitenje, popularly known as Bangwe 1, have waged a war against President Arthur Peter Mutharika’s bodyguard, Norman Chisale, wanting him out of the royal palace.
According to a video that has gone viral on the social media, Chitenje and his fellow DPP cadets are seen holding a meeting whose sole agendum is demanding Chisale’s immediate surrender of duties as Mutharika’s Aide de Camp.
“If the boss ( President Mutharika) loves Chisale, he should always leave him in Lilongwe whenever he is visiting Blantyre. Nobody, among us, wants to see Chisale anywhere near the royal family. In fact, we are not alone in this war, our counterparts in Mangochi, Liwonde and Zomba are also part of us,” Chitenje is heard saying in the video.
Sharing similar sentiments are the members of the meeting who are saying they suffered a lot of ridicule and physical battles when they fought for DPP’s victory.
The members describe Chisale as a greedy person who does not pick their calls or answer any of their correspondence, simply because he wants to enjoy the royal fortunes alone, yet his fellow party loyalists are out there languishing in poverty.
The video invites more questions than answers to who is supposed to hire and fire Chisale as a presidential security talisman.
Efforts to draw Chisale’s reaction to the allegations proved futile as his phones were out reach.
Chisale is unpopular among DPP files and ranks despite that he has been out and about doing charitable activities like buying meals and different items for street kids in Blantyre and financially supporting the construction of a church in his home district of Ntcheu.
Besides being President Mutharika’s bodyguard, Chisale is Director of Security at the State House.
