LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-A renewed political storm is brewing over the tragic plane crash that claimed the lives of Vice President Saulos Klaus Chilima and eight others, as lawmakers trade accusations over calls for a fresh investigation.
Member of Parliament for Lilongwe Mpenu, Eisenhower Mkaka, has urged the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) leadership to institute a new inquiry into the fatal crash, saying Malawians deserve the truth behind the incident.
Mkaka reminded Parliament that the Minister of Justice had earlier pledged to revisit the matter to clear the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) of any lingering allegations surrounding the tragedy.
“The nation deserves to know the truth. This investigation is not about politics but about justice and accountability for the lives that were lost,” Mkaka said.
His remarks came after UTM parliamentary leader Patricia Kaliati renewed her own demand for a comprehensive and transparent investigation, insisting that only an independent inquiry could restore public confidence in the government’s handling of the crash.
However, in a sharp turn, Kaliati later criticized Mkaka’s call, accusing the MCP of hypocrisy. She argued that the governmentthen under the MCPmade a “decisive but tragic” mistake when it allegedly ordered rescue teams to halt the search, a decision she believes contributed to the deaths of Chilima and the other victims.
“It is hypocritical for the MCP to now demand a new investigation when they were the ones who told rescuers to stop searching. That decision cost lives,” Kaliati charged.

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Senior members of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) have come together to call for peace and unity among party followers, despite ongoing internal wrangles within the party.
The appeal was made during a rally held at Nkukula Ground in Lumbadzi on Sunday May 4, 2025 where the party celebrated the victory of Chalera, the newly elected shadow councillor for the area.
Among the notable figures present were former Secretary General Eisenhower Mkaka, current Secretary General Richard Chimwendo Banda, Minister of Homeland Security Ezekiel Ching’oma, Regional Chairperson Zebron Chilondola, and Minister of Gender Jean Sendeza.
Minister Ching’oma was the first to address the crowd, emphasizing that the presence of senior members at the same event was a clear sign of the party’s commitment to unity.
Echoing his sentiments, Regional Chairperson Chilondola affirmed that the MCP is now focused on reconciliation and unity as the country heads toward the 2025 general elections.
Mkaka and Sendeza reiterated the importance of peace, aligning their remarks with the party’s “Hi5” agenda, which promotes unity, peace, and development.
Wrapping up the speeches, Chimwendo Banda acknowledged that disagreements are inevitable in any political organization, but stressed that such disputes should not be aired in the media.
He called on MCP supporters to emulate the leadership’s example by putting aside differences and focusing on securing victory in the upcoming elections.
“We may have internal misunderstandings, but we are one family,” said Chimwendo, “Let us avoid fighting each other and instead unite for the greater goal of winning in 2025.”
The event marked a significant moment of public solidarity among top MCP figures, as the party works to present a united front ahead of a crucial election year.
BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Once hailed as a rising star in the Malawi Congress Party (MCP), Eisenhower Mkaka is now facing political extinction. Ironically at the hands of the very system he helped build.
Mkaka is widely believed to be the man who identified Lazarus Chakwera as the right candidate to lead MCP back in 2013. Alongside fellow Tambala professionals, he brought Chakwera into the party at a time when their move was strongly opposed by then-party leader John Tembo.
Mkaka worked closely with Chakwera long before the latter became a Member of Parliament, from the time he was Leader of Opposition, all the way to his rise to the presidency. Their bond was strong, partly due to their shared roots in Lilongwe, where they were close even as “hommies.”
But things took a dark turn when Chakwera allegedly sent Mkaka to the Shahel region and Somaliland in North- East Africa to collect some kickbacks from those pariah states.
Out of the $3 million reportedly collected, Mkaka is said to have only handed over $500,000 to Chakwera, a move that deeply angered the President, who had viewed Mkaka as his proxy.
Enter Mumba, Chakwera’s new favorite. Trusted to handle money and allegedly manage offshore accounts, Mumba became the new go-to man. Mkaka’s fate was sealed. To punish him, Chakwera orchestrated a political plan: he tasked Mkaka with publicly attacking alliance partners like Saulos Chilima and Enock Chihana. The aim? Paint Mkaka as a divisive figure and public enemy. It worked.
Soon after, Mkaka was cornered in the infamous Zuneth Sattar corruption case, where he was implicated as part of the system collecting illicit funds for the President. Mkaka was booted out of Chakwera’s cabinet.
The final blow came at the MCP Convention as Chakwera threw his weight behind Richard Chimwendo Banda for the Secretary General post, sidelining Mkaka entirely.
This move wasn’t just about Mkaka; Chakwera was also targeting anyone seen as a threat to his grip on the party. Among them was Catherine Gotani Hara, who had played a major role in Parliament during the 2019–2020 period, leading to the adoption of the 50+1 electoral system.
Chakwera is believed to have wanted to replace Gotani Hara with Mumba, someone he considered easier to control as the party’s next leader.
Now, Chimwendo has been assigned the task of dismantling the Lilongwe camp within MCP, a group of younger, educated, and ambitious MPs who are aiming for the party’s top positions.
Among them are Baba Malondera and Ezekiel Ching’oma; both UNIMA graduates, and both rumored to be eyeing the SG position in 2029.
These two are seen as more academically and policy-wise capable than Chimwendo, who was once just a clerk at World Vision before becoming an MP. Being in Cabinet now, Malondera and Ching’oma have growing influence, which makes Chimwendo view them as serious threats.
Chimwendo’s long-term goal? Take over MCP in 2029, alongside Sam Kawale, as they see it as the “right time for Dowa.” Their strategy is to have Gotani Hara as Chakwera’s running mate in the next election , a safer choice compared to Mumba, to smoothen the succession path. After that, Chimwendo or Kawale (a former Capital Radio journalist) plan to vie for the MCP presidency.
But the biggest obstacle in their path is the Lilongwe camp, which is rising in popularity and has a better education profile and policy track record than both Chimwendo and Kawale.
The battle lines are drawn. MCP is no longer just about Chakwera vs opposition ; it’s now a fierce internal war for control.
LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has completely removed its former Secretary General (SG) Eisenhower Mkaka from any power of position in the party apart from being an ordinary member.
This follows announcement of final MC National Executive Committee (NEC) which remained positions have been filled in.
Addressing the news conference on Sunday, September 1, 2024, MCP SG Richard Chimwendo Banda said party has appointed deputies for various positions but also ordinary members of the committee.
Chimwendo therefore announced names of 52 members that have been appointed.
Among those appointed is Minister of Water and Sanitation Abida Mia as MCP’s second deputy president of the party.
Abida’s appointment has now seen the party having two female vice presidents.
Former Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) vice president for central region Uladi Mussa has found his way into MCP NEC as second deputy director of campaign.
Former DPP member Ken Msonda has also made it into the MCP NEC as second deputy publicity secretary.
Minister of Justice Titus Mvalo has been appointed as deputy director of legal affairs. Mvalo previously served as director of legal affairs but lost the sit at the convention to the current director of legal affairs George Kadzipatike.
Former MCP vice president Harry Mkandawire, former MCP strategist Kenneth Zikhale Ng’oma as well as Engineer Vitumbiko Mumba, have been appointed as ordinary members of the NEC.
The August 8, MCP elective convention endorsed President Lazarus Chakwera as its torchbearer for 2025 General Elections.

In a normal country- serious allegations of theft, corruption and all sorts of debauchery at State House made by one Tiyanjane Mlangeni, including that President Lazarus Chakwera employed her as a Gardner and was paid by taxpayers for doing party work and not gardening- could have seen heads roll and the President explain to the public how his own residence is operating like a bunga bunga or big brother residence, stripping it of its decorum and stature.
The muted silence to the serious allegations that implicate State House as one of the centres which have employed party youth and paid them government salaries to cheer the president and the party, reflects how Malawi’s sixth President failing presidency operates.
Scandal, mute, deny and move on. The question has been moving on to where. Where is Malawi heading under President Lazarus Chakwera, the man who promised Canaan but has delivered near-hell experience of food shortages, high cost of living and thieving Ministers, Presidential Assistants and according to his own former security agent- even in his own house- the State House.
Everything in Malawi has been falling apart. The Malawi kwacha has lost 66% of its value from June alone, the economy has gone south, and government activities have come to a grinding halt- save for flying President Lazarus Chakwera (who is now flying local trips)- raising questions as to where the country is heading.
The Investigator Magazine has spent 12 months examining the power, influence and decision-making under President Chakwera, and as confirmed by the outcome- it is messy, tedious, and as the Public Affairs Committee (PAC) nailed it, some characters are more powerful than one can wonder who exactly the President is.
An ex-employee of State House Tiyamike in an avalanche of audio, paints a clear pattern as to what many Malawians have feared, that the President has no control even of his own residence, as some individuals are on a rampage including, according to her carrying “bags of money from Malawi Revenue Authority.”
What taxes paid to MRA end up in bags at State House, is a serious and damaging allegation both the President and MRA cannot pretend the public are dumb enough to forget anytime soon. Of course, the ex-Gardner has mentioned names, while she might be bitter, at least the taxpayers know MRA after bullying them to pay taxes- send part of the collection to the State House.
Malawians have been wondering as to who really advises President Lazarus Chakwera and why in most instances it takes long to decide on what sometimes are simple matters. Many times, his interventions are late, or he will just disappear and leave the nation guessing who is in charge or how will the matter end.
The President is yet to give a comprehensive economic recovery plan nor direction as to when will the economy pick up and things start moving again. Only constant devaluation, hiking of prices, looming food shortages, delayed fertilizer supply, fuel and forex shortages, low medical stocks and a flying president seems to have become a reality to ordinary Malawians.
Hundreds of small businesses cannot be paid by the government due to lack of money; public debt is still climbing up and nobody is marshaling the country to a direction or date it can breathe and hope things will get better.
At times he has publicly confessed that he didn’t know or at one time asked his Malawi Congress Party (MCP) officials to tell him the truth. What he does with the truth, is anybody’s guess. He has become a reactionary leader who has failed to tame most of the corrupt elements in his government and his administration will go into history as one of the worst, clueless and failed of modern times.
The President does indeed not know anything
The Investigator Magazine spoke to people who have interacted with President Lazarus Chakwera and most of them have described their conversations as “lacking depth” and he does not have a defined personal vision.
Malawi’s first president Hastings Kamuzu Banda’s vision lay in three basic necessities- food, adequate clothing, and decent housing which he built systems to support and grow the economy.
Dr Bakili Muluzi’s vision and achievable included Human Rights, consolidation of democracy and freedoms through the building of governance institutions and free basic education for all to improve literacy levels.
President Bingu wa Mutharika’s vision summed up as a colour dream of moving Malawi from a predominantly importing nation to an exporting one- he dreamt of new universities and infrastructure, made new friends in BRICS and took Malawi from Taiwan to China.
Many say the President does not have a defined personal vision. Dr. Joyce Banda, the first female President in Malawi and the SADC region used the Presidency to uplift women- giving Malawi its first female Head of Civil Service and other positions launched an economic recovery programme and went to rural empowerment, that included direct construction of houses for the neediest.

Professor Peter Mutharika stabilized the Malawi economy and appropriately for an educationist went to construct community colleges, expanded the capacities of universities, and completed most of the infrastructure that his brother’s administration had started, including breaking up of the University of Malawi into several independent institutions.
President Chakwera, the sixth Republican President rode on Hi5 and inclusive governance he called servant leadership, but he has failed to keep any of his single promises from cheap fertilizer to fighting corruption to creating 3 million jobs for the poor.
His campaign rhetoric was so captivating, that when he declared that Malawi was destined to become the equivalent biblical land of honey and milk- Canaan- 60 percent of the voters believed the former President of the Assemblies of God.
He now literally is breaking corruption, nepotism and traveling records while essentials and the economy are at their lowest in Malawi’s history.
“He parrots what is written on paper. You cannot discuss economics, law, or even serious governance issues with the President one to one. He sticks to generalities and repeats what he thinks the guest wants to hear. If you tell him something unpleasant forget meeting him again,” said a frequent visitor to Kamuzu Palace, in his assessment.
The President, according to those who have worked with him closely appears to listen but will continuously consult on one issue until the matter loses direction, making it difficult for the administration to move on its core projects.
“When you meet him, you will think things will start moving, but rarely there is no follow-up and there is nothing that comes from there,” says another official, who said each Minister is operating independently and the same with the OPC, as the President is busy with appearances.
“The Reverend likes being a President, but he seriously does not have what it takes to inspire a nation to a great revolution he eloquently sang in the name of Tonse Alliance. Even insiders, like us, are disappointed with his performance,” says an MCP operative who is close to the President.
The President once spoke to fire the NOCMA CEO, but it never happened. He fired Labour Minister Ken Kandodo Banda but later told Malawians he was misled. He was unaware of people stealing COVID-19 money, neither was he aware of the ACB Director’s arrest.
He has done nothing about these serious dents to his legacy. He can contradict his own speech without blinking his eye.
Here are some of the names we have collected that gather around the President and have varying influences on his decision-making.
The Powerful Trio: The first lady, the first son and the ‘first daughter’
The most powerful are three people who have access to the President unlimited. His wife, his son and interestingly the embattled Secretary to the President and Cabinet Colleen Zamba is treated like “a daughter” by the President.
Apart from these, a contingent of Pastors and friends of the President from Pentecostal Churches are also seen as more influential to the President, according to insiders who have firsthand experience.

She has managed to tame perceptions that the office should have loud and noisy people to be relevant to Malawians. Apart from a few appointments, which many think she influenced, she has managed her power closely to herself and is only seen in public to support her husband or do her charity works of uplifting girls’ education.
Silent but influential -the First Lady Madam Monica Chakwera. However, we found that a good word from her, you get your things done.

Sons of Presidents and children of political leaders have been seen to take over political parties. We have Atupele Muluzi who took over UDF from his father former President Dr. Bakili Muluzi and Enock Chihana who inherited Aford from his multiparty icon Chakufwa Tom Chihana.
The eldest son of the First couple seems to play his cards silently and well off the public. Pastor Nick took the same path as his dad; he became a Pastor in the Assemblies of God Church where his father was a Minister for over 20 years as a President. In power play, he is said to have been the connection to the President and family businesses.
Though he has been named, without evidence, of having rivals within the State House and at the Office of the President and Cabinet, his only direct mention of politics so far has been his book that talks of religious leaders in politics.
As the eldest son, his influence is immense, leaving Malawians with a question- what does he tell his father about the direction Malawi is taking or some of the scandals that engulf his administration?
He is another route to meeting the President, those who have had a chance, claim so.
SPC Colleen Zamba

The Secretary to the President and Cabinet Colleen Zamba is perhaps, after the President’s family members, the most powerful figure in the MCP administration. Party officials fear him, Cabinet Ministers don’t want to be on her bad side and Government officials know she has absolute power in hiring and firing in civil service.
Zamba is deemed to be the most powerful woman after the first couple in Malawi. She also controls parastatals- something that has seen her bash off heads with CEOs who wanted to appear smarter than her. NOCMA, MERA, EGENCO and even ESCOM bosses know who calls the shots. Martha Chizuma was interdicted by Zamba until the High Court called it a usurpation of power.
The Investigator Magazine has been trying to confirm the source of her power. Guess it right, she is regarded as a family member of the President’s family. The President puts family first, forget the rumours that she is going anywhere soon.
How she became family, is simple, the SPC’s father and Reverend Chakwera were trained at the same school in South Africa, and like all good Africans, she became part of the family. With Zamba, you could as well count your blessing or curse- depending on which side of her you rub.
She might have survived her immediate sacking, after she spent a few hours with the President in a meeting, one Friday after we had let the cat out that the President was about to fire her.
She has been accused of waging power and political war against MCP officials from Lilongwe.
The waning powers SG Eisenhower Mkaka
He is out of Cabinet, but not out of the President’s ear. Politically, he knows what the President’s thoughts and plans are, he still has direct access to the State House and reports indicate the two of them chat for hours.
However, another State House informant claims he now needs an appointment to see his President, which shows the declining influence over the President.
His biggest challenge was he became unreachable to the party systems when he was in cabinet, and he was accused of being on the side of one political fight that claimed many during the first days of Chakwera’s presidency.
He has direct access to the President and is influential in Party decisions. Outside cabinet since January 2023, he has spent time consolidating his power, making MCP more visible and fending off convention. He could surprise many, including Ministers who want to become Secretary General for the ruling party by winning again during the August 2024 party convention.

Khato’s Simbi Phiri
The South African-based billionaire Simbi Phiri is not only the key financier of President Chakweras’s political journey but also a friend. Though he is yet to get his prized Salima Lilongwe Water Project, Simbi still has continued to meet the President on personal turfs, including the last of the President’s visits to South Africa.
The President also listens to the businessman. The President also listens to the businessman, and a good word through him can get him what he wants.
Questions have appeared about his influence after President Lazarus Chakwera’s no-show at his grand 60th birthday bash which he had invited 350 Malawi VIPS, but only 70 honored the invitation, leaving many VVIP seats conspicuously empty.

The former face of the Presidency who spoke to Malawians every week after the President took power has disappeared from the public realm. The issues are far and complicated, some of his detractors claim he was literally the appointing authority of the first cabinet.

However, like many near the President, questions of his role as the Malawi leader plunged into comical blunders including the ‘infamous’ Bridgin Foundation signing ceremony, will always be asked on his competence as an advisor and controller of the President’s engagements.
Apart from being a son-in-law, he is a former head of Flood Church Malawi and fingers have been pointed at him for “appointments” of dozens of his for college- the African Bible College, many of whom have failed to perform in their roles.

The only thing Malawians know about this Chief Advisor is that he borrowed MK370 million from a Malawian of Asian origin Batatawala. The money, where it went, only President Chakwera and Mkandawire can explain, developing lifelong links between them. Luckily, he is not poking his nose in public and works in the background.

The first person to be appointed Cabinet Minister by President Lazarus Chakwera has ended up as a political punch bag for friends and foes. He is blamed for almost everything wrong in the party, from the Police heist in Salima to JZU Tembos funeral funds.
A hard worker but he is blamed for almost everything wrong at the party – Chimwendo. But Chimwendo to his supporters is a victim of hard work, many fear him as he has devoted his time building the party, and hosting rallies bigger than other position holders. Those fighting him claim his ambition is to bring his own Dowa loyalists to the front of the party.
His influence on the President has waned but his loyalty has not. There was talk of him being fired, but the President moved him to another politically powerful portfolio in charge of local government and with that came Chiefs and Local Councils giving him political leverage as a Chief campaigner.
The Good and Sober advisers Chief of Staff Prince Kapondamgaga
He started off on a bouncy note- accused of all sorts of things- but one thing for sure is his unquestionable loyalty to the President. Twice the Chief of Staff’s name has been mentioned in court, in all the cases he has come out unscathed and has not mentioned if President Chakwera was involved.
Though he is powerful as a controller of State Residences, stories of his strict discipline and prudence have made him political enemies who have created different stories that have ended up being petty gossip.
He has unquestionable loyalty to the President and controls state residence activities. On his return from a year of suspension, even his rivals at State residence charge that he has become more of a leader and peacemaker- perhaps his own experience he can share and advise the President of things others cannot tell him- that Malawians need genuine change.

Though she is the Head of the legislature, her name keeps appearing in MCP party politics and she is accused of having ambitions to become running mate to her boss. This is almost impossible as she must resign before her term and lose all benefits of the Speaker if she goes to be a running mate.

The Speaker’s goodness has been experienced by insiders- who claim she has saved a couple of people from firing and that the President pays attention to her pleas. Perhaps she could use this goodness to change his direction.

Vice President Saulos Chilima might have had the ear of his boss, of course like before, until someone continuously whispered to the President that he is his rival. The President missed a critical independent voice outside his party- an active and delivering veep.
The few times Chilima has been tasked with National Disaster or Public Reforms, he has brought energy to the assignment and given hope to Malawians that things are getting better.
The Vice President meant good for the President and the country through his actions. Cyclone Freddy proved that the President needed Saulos to drive the recovery. The Vice President meant good for the President and the country and should the President wish to return to the normal path, he can have his back and change the negative narrative surrounding his administration.
President Bakili Muluzi and President Joyce Banda
The two former Presidents have accepted to become the face of the human recovery efforts of Cyclone Freddy and defacto advisers to the President as they have now access to him, giving hope that something good can come out of their experiences.
The two former presidents act as advisors to the current president and offer good hope for rebuilding the country. Their government involvement should have created an opportunity for President Chakwera to learn from their mistakes and utilise their experiences beyond relief efforts. Whether their advice is taken or not, is a story for another day.

Essentially an ex-officio Board Member of every Government agency, the man who never makes news is well known for his long stay as Head of the Debt and Aid department at the Treasury, perhaps the experience that has seen him try to enforce cooperate governance.
Apart from the companies directly involving the Secretary to the President and Cabinet, some companies are now reporting profit. There has been a general improvement in corporate governance where Malawians do not hear Chairpersons and CEO’s- through political appointees- running state companies through the media.
He could be the man the President needs to listen to more to start changing his tide.
Justice Minister Titus Mvalo
He has been a gentleman and working from outside the media. He was never caught in childish fights the former DPP and ACB Director General engaged in and despite being the MCP legal adviser, he appears to be calm and collected in dealing with party and government affairs.
Calm and collective and works away from the spotlight of the media. He could be useful to the President if he told him the truth, especially when some of his juniors push agendas that have nothing to do with public interest. Remember, Ministers take oaths to defend the public interest.
Ken Zikhale Ng’oma- Homeland Security Minister

Even at The Investigator Magazine, we are surprised by his inclusion as something good in President Chakwera’s team of people who appear to have his ear. Our analysts argue the man- despite picking battles within the party, cabinet and sometimes with the public, has become someone who will take a sword for the President.
Zikhale Ng’oma could be the good bully who gets things done. Zikhale Ng’oma could be the good bully who gets things done- like clearing refugees- forget the thieving Police caught on camera, suspending the national ID expiry date after years of the public crying foul and now almost high-profile criminal act being arrested.
If he expended the energy, he has for more good things than a political podium to drum up the President’s support, he could be a good power influence.

He faces a daunting task. With hunger and a biting rising cost of living his position is scary for any politician and his advisers to look at his failures and reconcile the fact that he must face the electorate in less days than he started.

MZUZU-(MaraviPost)-Youth and Society (YAS) on Monday, July 3, 2023, accused President Lazarus Chakwera’s Tonse Alliance government of shielding “former statehouse chief” of staff Prince Kapondamgaga and former cabinet minister Eisenhower Mkaka from being investigated on corruption allegations.
YAS claims that there is heavy political interference in law enforcement agencies fighting against corruption in the country.
YAS executive director Charles Kajoloweka wonders why there is no action on investigations on Kapondamgaga and Mkaka.
Kajoloweka told the news conference in Mzuzu that he has tangible information on how President Chakwera is allegedly interfering in cases including the MK750 million botched Affordable Inputs Program (AIP), NOCMA oil deals, and among others.
Kajoloweka has therefore demanded independence of law enforcement agencies and has condemned selective justice in Chakwera’s Tonse Alliance government.
Tonse Alliance government spokesperson Moses Kunkuyu is yet to respond to Kajoloweka’s claims.
Timothy Mtambo, Richard Chimwendo, Michael Usi and many others must be left out in the next cabinet reshuffle.
All suspects of corruption must be dropped from Cabinet or Tonse government will face total disaster as Malawians rage on with anger.
Its now time for Reverend Lazarus Chakwera to act
All names that have been mentioned to have connived defrauding government coffers in one way or the other must be left out in the next cabinet reshuffle.
Malawians are aware of several allegations of government corruption involving many cabinet ministers and they expect the President to take action by excluding such ministers if indeed this government is serious with fighting corruption.
According to information from different reliable sources many ministers have fraudulently pocketed millions of kwacha each without any purpose.
The reports especially from Malawi Parliament including many other reports that are coming out show that numerous procurement issues have been violated at different institutions and as such many faces should be chopped off from cabinet and new faces should be given chance to work.
There is a lot of stealing and miss-procurement in government where many millions of kwacha have been stolen and gone to the drain.
A lot of information is revealing that ministers are collecting millions of kwacha fraudulently from different departments across government institutions.
Malawians are expecting Timothy Mtambo, Richard Chimwendo Banda, Michael Usi, Lobin Lowe and many others to be chopped out in the next cabinet reshuffle.
If Chakwera spares out corrupt ministers in the coming cabinet reshuffle, then he should expect a tough ride from Malawians from now onwards as we go to Canaan. It will be very rough for the President to govern this nation as people’s anger will rage on to its extreme points.
Whether individual ministers agree or disagree with the allegations, they should be reshuffled.
According to human psychology, it is always normal for suspects to deny allegations levelled against them. They do so out of fear knowing very well the implications of such allegations.
It is always abnormal for a suspect to straight away accept to have committed serious offences just at once as if they were responding to greetings. And when such a suspect does so, for example accepting to have murdered someone in a court of law without any resistance, a presiding judge will ask and direct that the suspect in question goes for mental check up.
Therefore, the responses given by any suspected minister should not be taken heed of as they are defending their jobs and not justice.
Nobody accepts serious allegations in silver plate just like that. It has never happened anywhere in any government.
Lawyers are another team of thieves in Malawi who receive money to defend criminals. They can work even for a corruption suspect for as long they have are paid money.
Eventually, they connive with judges who are currently providing selective justice.
Comments PR responses from suspected corrupt ministers should be ignored.
We know some ministers involved in the mess are personal friends to the President but this is a make or break decision that must be done now at a price. It’s either friends if the President lose or the President himself loses out completely.
After all, a cabinet reshuffle should not take long as the President has always done. He can even hire people from outside politics to help him fix this country or ignore the advice and drown in the sea of loss of government which is already nose diving.

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Natural Resources and Climate Change Minister Eisenhower Mkaka on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 admits in difficulties to access Green Climate Fund (GCF) for government adaptation programs.
Mkaka however said the ministry was in talks with GCF financiers to review proposal guidelines that list developing nations including Malawi have access to the funds.
The minister was speaking during a media engagement on Malawi’s participation at the upcoming 27th Conference of Parties (CoP27) slated for November in Egypt.
This comes as Civil Society Network on Climate Change (CISONECC) and other groupings are grappling to tap resources from GFC due to guidelines’ complexity.
“It’s not only CSOs having difficulties in access GCF resource but also government. We are currently talking with GCF financiers to review guidelines that the local sector must access the resources easily.
“However, for CSOs to access GCF resources are supposed to pass through the ministry that their programs must be aligned with what Malawi government is implementing, ” says Mkaka.
According to the minister Malawi needs US$46.5 billion to implement climate change impact management activities.
Mkaka said about a quarter of the amount will be funded locally and the rest depends on donor support.
He decried challenges developing countries have been facing to access funds from developed members of the United Nations Congress on Climate Change.
“Apart from non-governmental organisations, countries have found it very difficult to access these funds. We have been talking with international partners to have them revise processes and requirements for applications since they have proved to be a stumbling block,” he added.
Mkaka said at CoP27, Malawi will be following up on financial pledges that were made by country parties at CoP26 in Glasgow, Scotland.
Some of the pledges include the US$350 million which was made towards the Adaptation Fund and $600 million which was promised to Least Developed Countries (LDCs).
If fulfilled, Mkaka said, the pledges would help countries like Malawi strengthen the resilience of their vulnerable communities to effects of climate change.
Echoing the same during the presser, Egypt Ambassador to Malawi Mahomed Elsharif said the conference provides an opportunity for Malawi and other nations to reaffirm their commitment to the global climate agenda.
United Nations Resident Coordinator Malawi Maria Do Valle Ribeiro said time has come to “focus on critical issues surrounding matters of climate change” and greenhouse emissions which, she said, continue to negatively affect lives.
CoP27 will be held in the Egyptian city of Sharm El Sheikh from November 6 to 18 2022.
President Lazarus Chakwera is also expected to lead Malawi delegation to CoP27.
LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Secretary General (SG) Eisenhower Mkaka who is also Natural Resources Minister on Sunday, July 17, 2022 handed over modern MK26 million house to his Lilongwe Mpenu Constituency’s Matapila health Centre.
Not only that Mkaka also commissioned modern local court facility worthy MK28 million at Senior Chief Mazengera Headquarters.
Mkaka’s initiatives: court facility and health worker staff house
The MCP SG went further launching MK5 million Football and Netball league that will run through the year whereby constituency teams will battle it out.
Mkaka told The Maravi Post that the three initiatives offered to constituents are part of his campaign promises made in 2019.
The lawmaker assured locals that he will continue delivering what were promised to them for the transformation of the area.
“I have drilled over 100 new boreholes, constructed 10 bridges, paying school fees to many needy students just three years being a Member of Parliament (MP) in this area.
“These initiatives are meant to change constituents livelihood for better. I will continue serving them to my best ability. I therefore appeal to locals to look after and make use of the facilities; health work house and court facility for its intended purpose,” says Mkaka.
Senior Resident Magistrate Wanangwa Nyirenda lauded the legislator for promoting delivery of justice through the modern court facility in the area.
Nyirenda observes that the court facility will provide conducive environment for judicial officers when delivering justices to locals.
LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The Malawi Police in the capital Lilongwe are keeping in custody one officer identified as Osman Chinsinga, who is a bodyguard to Minister of Natural Resources Eisenhower Mkaka for allegedly aiding thieves to attack his own boss.
This publication understands that Chinsinga connived with thieves to break into Mkaka’s house to steal money.
The body guard is allegedly to have supplied the thugs with police uniform to use during the robbery.
“The got away with MK5 million meant to buy farm produces. This happened soon after Mkaka left the country upon giving his nephew instruction at the airport in Lilongwe on Saturday,” says the source.
Deputy National Police Spokesperson Harry Namwaza confirmed the arrested of Chinsinga, Mkaka’s bodyguard and that he has been arrested together with six other people.
According to Namwaza ,the Malawi Police Service does not condone criminal activities amongst its officers hence the arrest.
