The ’90s Version of Going Viral? TV’s Wildest Clips Were on ‘Talk Soup’

Today, a talk show clip of a woman dumped for her twin or “proud to be a b***h” would go viral before you finished this sentence. Decades ago, we had Talk Soup. Debuting Jan. 7, 1991, the irreverent four-day-a-week E! show hard-launched the career of host Greg Kinnear, who, noted The New York Times, seemed “constantly bemused by the oddballs and topics at hand, without ever resorting to bashing or mean-spiritedness.” John Henson succeeded him, plugging in more comedy sketches, followed by Hal Sparks and Aisha Tyler, who reminds Us, “As outrageous as it could be, Talk Soup also had an Emmy!”

Kinnear had a couple of hosting gigs under his belt before he blew up on Talk Soup… then decided to pivot to acting. Henson, a club comic in NYC, thought, “If they ever hire a nobody,” he could be great. “Everybody I knew was auditioning,” he tells Us. “[Producers] told me at one point they had interviewed maybe 3,000 people over 18 months in five cities.” Actor Sparks came next but exited after less than a year. “Huge fan” Tyler closed it out after a guest host appearance got fans hyped. Still, she recalls, “Network executives said to my face that they thought young men would not watch with me as host. Happily, they were wrong.”

Why We Remember It

Talk Soup brought the funny and the shocking! The clips — alien assaults, hugging tips, Geraldo Rivera vs. the KKK — stood on their own. Interns scanned about seven to nine hours of TV a day, Henson says of his early days. “Jerry Springer was the Babe Ruth of talk show clips for us, because he was so reliable.” But the comedy bits became increasingly important and defining. And absurd, he says: “We used to do this very serious segment called Profiles in Cable, where we would make, like, a Ken Burns documentary on different staff members.” Tyler says, “We went from just winking at wild clips to having a distinct personality and point of view.” Costumes were a given, and Tyler’s Foxy Chocolat character (think: Pam Grier’s Foxy Brown) attracted fans like Quentin Tarantino, who requested the sketches on VHS. “I plotzed!” Tyler says.

From Roseanne Barr to William Shatner to Catherine O’Hara, celebrities were happy to be Soup ingredients. The big get? Dustin Hoffman, who watched and even submitted his own clip! Naturally, the team plotted to get the actor in person — by staging a weeks-long fake hunger strike. “We actually got a scale model of the purple chair I sat in that was bigger to make it look like I was shrinking,” Henson says. It worked! Hoffman phoned and agreed to come on.

The Aftermath

Talk Soup came to an abrupt end in 2002, but a revamped version dubbed The Soup was waiting in the wings. “We had actually shot two pilots that would throw a wider net across popular culture, pulling material from reality shows and the internet in addition to talk shows,” Tyler explains. But the project didn’t come to fruition until 2004, when it was hosted by Joel McHale and filled with Kardashian klips.

A New Perspective

Talk Soup was definitely of its time. What felt transgressive then would seem quaint to people now,” Tyler offers. “TikTok is just one never-ending episode of Talk Soup.” Still, she and Henson list some of the shows it influenced: Tosh.0, Ridiculousness, Watch What Happens Live, even The Daily Show.

Andy Cohen, Anderson Cooper Detail Ryan Seacrest Texts on New Year’s Eve

Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper closed out 2025 and welcomed 2026 with their annual CNN’s New Year’s Eve Live special.

The Bravo star, 57, and the journalist, 58, cohosted the broadcast from New York City’s Times Square for the ninth consecutive year on Wednesday, December 31.

“Bottoms up: This is tequila!” Cohen declared before doing a shot with Cooper to open the show. Afterward, the cohosts spoke about 2025 highlights, including a trip to Disneyland with their kids and watching Cher perform during an event for Saturday Night Live‘s 50th anniversary.

“Cher called me a couple weeks ago,” Cooper said, to which Cohen replied, “Did she ask for me?”

Cooper jokingly recalled Cher saying of Cohen, “How’s that troublemaker?”

The cohosts also mentioned Ryan Seacrest, who hosts Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve on ABC.

“Did Ryan call you … or text you today?” Cooper asked Cohen, who responded, “He texted me, like, yesterday or the day before.”

Cooper said that Seacrest had texted him that morning. In past years, he noted, Seacrest had sent him gifts.

“Like, a photo of himself?” Cohen asked.

“No,” Cooper said, adding that Seacrest had previously sent him tequila.

The longtime pals also discussed the hit hockey romance series Heated Rivalry, with Cohen telling Cooper, “Of the two of us, you’re Ilya and I’m Shane.”

“What?!” Cooper replied.

Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper Return to Ripping Shots on CNN NYE Special

In addition to Cohen and Cooper’s signature banter, CNN’s New Year’s Eve Live featured performances by Robyn, Shakira, Brandy and Monica, Bryan Adams, Florence + The Machine, Raye, Brandi Carlile, Aloe Blacc, Patti LaBelle and Michelle Williams and special appearances by Stephen Colbert, Amy Sedaris, Rebecca Romijn and Jerry O’Connell, B.J. Novak, Leanne Morgan and Sarah Sherman.

Since Cohen joined the broadcast as Cooper’s cohost in 2017, the CNN New Year’s Eve special has consistently made headlines, perhaps most notoriously when the network banned the duo from drinking after Cohen shaded then-New York City mayor Bill de Blasio and Seacrest during the 2021-2022 show.

“Watching Mayor de Blasio do his victory lap dance after four years of the crappiest term as the mayor of New York — the only thing that Democrats and Republicans can agree on is what a horrible mayor he has been,” Cohen said at the time. “So sayonara, sucka. 2022! It’s a new year because guess what? I have a feeling I’m gonna be standing right here next year, and you know who I’m not going to be looking at dancing as the city comes apart? You!”

Cohen was similarly critical of the Seacrest-hosted Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.

Anderson Cooper Loses It Over Ralph Fiennes’ Take on Demure, Mindful Meme

“If you look behind me, you’ll see Ryan Seacrest’s group of losers performing. … I’m sorry but if you’re watching ABC, you’re watching nothing,” he quipped. “We were doused with confetti from fake Journey on ABC. If it’s not Steve Perry, it doesn’t count! You get it? It’s not Journey! It’s propaganda! It’s propaganda! It’s not Journey! It’s not Journey! No, that was not Journey. Steve Perry is Journey.”

Cohen later apologized to Seacrest, 51, and the two made amends. Cohen and Cooper were still banned from drinking during the 2022-2023 broadcast, but their tequila shots tradition returned the following year.

Prior to the 2025-2026 show, Cooper and Cohen reflected on their favorite memories from their years of cohosting the New Year’s Eve special.

“We can’t talk about New Year’s Eve without talking about your many, many occasions of being in a puddle of giggles,” Cohen told Cooper in a CNN video earlier this month. “I say to people my job is to make you laugh on New Year’s because people love to hear you laugh. And I think God bless you for the work you do all year long. You’re keeping ‘em honest right here on CNN, and this is your time and all of our time to let loose and enjoy.”

Kevin O’Leary Smacked Timothee Chalamet’s Butt So Hard His Eyes ‘Exploded’

Kevin O’Leary and Timothée Chalamet’s intense bare-butt paddle scene in Marty Supreme was just as crazy to film as it appeared on screen.

“We had a fake paddle that had a hinge thing and a foam thing. It was supposed to not hurt. Didn’t work. It broke immediately,” O’Leary, 71, exclusively told Us Weekly ahead of Marty Supreme’s Thursday, December 25, release. “So we got to a real paddle, wood, like, a real paddle, with grooves on the surface of it.”

O’Leary, who plays businessman Milton Rockwell in the biopic, explained that while there was an “ass double” for Chalamet, the actor ultimately wanted to be the one to perform the scene, which sees titular character Marty (Chalamet) asking Milton for forgiveness after passing on some exhibition ping pong matches. After Marty’s begging, Milton has the young athlete drop his pants and bend over for a spanking.

“Timmy walked in [and] said, ‘No, it’s got to be my ass. I’m going to immortalize my ass on film in perpetuity,’” O’Leary recalled, adding he tried to talk Chalamet out of it once he realized he was going to “hit” him with the nonprop paddle. “And he said, ‘I’m doing it.’ So we started whacking cheeks left and right and left and right to try and keep the red the same intensity.”

Gwyneth Paltrow Thought Timothee Chalamet’s Makeup Was Acne and Intervened

While O’Leary “could feel the heat off” of Chalamet’s buttocks after about “20 takes,” director Josh Safdie told the Shark Tank star he was “not hitting him hard enough” and the scene didn’t “look real.” (“Now I know you’re a sick puppy,” O’Leary jokingly remembered thinking.)

“I wound up like a baseball bat, and I nailed his right cheek, and I think his eyeballs exploded out of his head, and that’s what you see,” O’Leary said of the take used in the final edit. “His reaction to that was still just great.”

O’Leary confessed he was impressed with what a “crazy trooper” Chalamet was on set.

“I have a new respect for that kid,” he said. “There’s no question about it. And he deserves an Academy Award.”

In recent weeks, Chalamet has echoed similar sentiments about his performance, which he has deemed award-worthy. The Dune star ultimately received backlash for his confident stance, but from O’Leary’s perspective, Marty Supreme is unlike Chalamet’s previous roles.

“I went out of my way knowing I was going to be across from him to watch all his stuff, the Dune stuff, everything [is] so good. And I can tell you with certainty, and I’m right about this, this is his best performance by a factor of 100 percent,” O’Leary told Us. “It’s beyond anything he’s ever done. And he went to a new place. He just did. And I was there. I watched it happen. I was in the room, saying, ‘Wow, this guy is f***ing crazy.’”

Coming from the world of reality TV, seeing Chalamet’s process for getting into character as Marty was a whirlwind experience for O’Leary due to his ability to “riff” and “improv.”

“When I saw the final cut, they took scripted lines and merged them in with riffs that were improv, And that’s why the kinetic energy is there, the best of the best of every scene. Even though it was a mistake,” he said. “Chalamet kind of works in every scene where he gets up, comes back, sits down, and he’s in Marty, like, he’s not Chalamet anymore. He’s Marty. And the sparks are flying off him, and if you’re crossing him, you’re just going at him.”

Marty Supreme follows up-and-coming table tennis star Marty Mauser’s journey to become a professional champion, following him on his journey from the Lower East Side to international tournaments. . The sports comedy is loosely based on the career of real table tennis pro Marty Reisman.

O’Leary made his acting debut in Marty Supreme after being one of the iconic moguls on Shark Tank for nearly two decades. The business mogul explained that while he was excited to give acting a try, some of his team members weren’t sure if he could make the transition.

Timothee Chalamet Jokes About his ‘Anemic Frame’ on Wheaties Cereal Box

“‘Look, Kevin, this is acting. This is a script. This is scripted. You are not a scripted guy. You’re a reality guy. We have built a big franchise with you,’” O’Leary recalled someone from his team saying. “He said, ‘I have to be transparent with you … as your representatives some of us don’t like it. We think you’re going to s*** the bed.’ Those are the words he used.”

Despite the naysayers, O’Leary was adamant he was going to try something new.

“And I said, Well how do you know I’m going to s*** the bed? How does anybody know anything until I try it?’ Because I think you want to keep your life interesting, you got to go out of your comfort zone,” he reflected, “And so they sent the script over.”

After printing out the script, one of O’Leary’s friends saw paper on the businessman’s deck and decided to read it while watching the sunrise. The pal, who was unfamiliar with Safdie’s work, was captivated by the story.

“He says, Kevin, who wrote this? What sick puppy, screwed up, crazy person wrote this?’ I said, ‘Why are you asking?’ He said, ‘This is sick. It’s sick, but I can’t stop reading it, and I can’t stop and you have to be this guy, Milton Rockwell,’” he explained. “It’s crazy … that got me because here’s some random guy, he [didn’t] know anything about the story, and he was hooked, like, just riveted. And I thought, ‘S***, this is going to be a good movie.’”

Still, O’Leary didn’t make it easy for Safdie. When asked if he could meet them in New York to discuss the project, O’Leary countered with an offer to fly to him in for a meeting at his lake house near Toronto.

Meet the ‘Marty Supreme’ Cast: Timothee Chalamet, Gwyneth Paltrow and More

“I said, ‘How about [a] new idea I’ll send a plane. You get on it, you fly up here, and we read this together on my dock with the ducks going by and the sun setting and rising, peaceful environment,” he recalled. “And I thought it was also a bit of a test to see how serious they were, because if they’re going to do that, then they must be serious. So they did it, and they came up.”

Despite being excited to take on the challenge of Rockwell, O’Leary admitted he was initially “dissatisfied” with his character’s ending — but worked with Safdie to deliver something he felt was justifying for Milton’s journey.

“If I’m really Milton Rockwell, I would never let this little fer do this to me, and I would rip his fing heart out,” he quipped adding that he ended up collaborating with the writing team for a different ending. “That changed my whole view about things, because the ending we came up with on a collaborative basis. I’m not going to say I wrote it, but I told them that I was unhappy, and they gave me a path to where I was happy. And I’m very happy with the way it ends.”

Marty Supreme hits theaters on Thursday, December 25.

Celebrities Call Out President Trump’s Comments About Rob Reiner’s Death

Several celebrities have expressed shock over President Donald Trump’s comments about Rob Reiner in the wake of the director’s death alongside his wife, Michele Singer Reiner.

Rob, 78, and Michele, 68, were found dead in their home in Los Angeles on Sunday, December 14. Us Weekly later confirmed that the couple’s 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, was arrested on a murder charge and held without bail. (He has since been charged with two counts of first-degree murder.)

As tributes poured in from throughout Hollywood, Trump, 79, took to his Truth Social platform on Monday, December 15, to share his reaction to Rob and Michele’s deaths.

“A very sad thing happened last night in Hollywood. Rob Reiner, a tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star, has passed away, together with his wife, Michele, reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS,” Trump wrote.

Obamas Were Meant to See Rob and Michele Reiner on the Day They Were Killed

He continued of Rob, “He was known to have driven people CRAZY by his raging obsession of President Donald J. Trump, with his obvious paranoia reaching new heights as the Trump Administration surpassed all goals and expectations of greatness, and with the Golden Age of America upon us, perhaps like never before. May Rob and Michele rest in peace!”

After receiving backlash for his statement from Republican officials including Thomas Massie and Marjorie Taylor Greene, Trump later doubled down on his comments when asked by a reporter if he stood by his stance.

“Well, I wasn’t a fan of his at all,” Trump responded. “He was a deranged person as far as Trump is concerned.”

Trump added that Reiner was “bad for our country” because he was outspoken against the administration.

Many stars, including Josh Gad, Patrick Schwarzenegger and more, have publicly criticized the president’s statements about Rob and Michele. Wrestler Mick Foley even denounced his affiliation with the WWE amid its continued support of Trump.

“I no longer wish to represent a company that coddles a man so seemingly void of compassion as he marches our country towards autocracy,” Foley wrote of WWE. “Last night, I informed @WWE talent relations that I would not be making any appearances for the company as long as this man remains in office.”

He noted he would “not be signing a new Legends deal” with the company when his expires in June 2026, either.

Ana Navarro

The View cohost Ana Navarro slammed Trump during Monday’s episode of the talk show.

“At a time when so many in the media industry, so many with a platform are afraid to speak, he put his money and his mouth where his heart was and for Trump to have put that out today, I’m gonna say it: You know, damn it, there’s an American family grieving,” she said. “This is a tragedy, not just for the family, but for all who knew and loved him, and for the President of the United States to make this about him as a way to attack Rob Reiner, because he exercised his American right to speak up with what he disagreed with, is shameful. It is disgraceful. And of all the disgusting things that Donald Trump has done, this is right up there.”

Whoopi Goldberg

While discussing Rob and Michele’s deaths with her cohosts on The View, Whoopi Goldberg recalled the death of far-right political activist Charlie Kirk in September. “I don’t understand the man in the White House. He spoke at length about Charlie Kirk and about caring, and then this is what he puts out. Have you no shame? No shame at all? Can you get any lower? I don’t think so,” she said.

Actress Mia Farrow took to Threads to write, “Rob Reiner will always be remembered for the truly wonderful films he gave us, and for his kindness and warmth, his humor, his love for his country. Jimmy Kimmel

Jimmy Kimmel called Trump’s comments “hateful and vile” during Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday night.

“What we need in a time like this, besides common sense when it comes to guns and mental healthcare, is compassion and leadership,” Kimmel said. “We did not get that from our president because he has none of it to give … Just when you think he can’t go any lower, he somehow finds a way to do that.”

He continued, “Blaming [Rob’s] death on the fact that he is an outspoken liberal, insulting someone who’s just been murdered, who leaves children behind without having any idea of what actually happened, it’s so hateful and vile. When I first saw it, I thought it was fake. My wife showed it to me this morning; I was like, ‘Well, even for him, that’d seem like too much.’ But nothing is ever too much for him.”

Seth Meyers

Seth Meyers said Trump’s statement on Rob and Michele was “even worse than I could have imagined” while reflecting on the news on his late night show.

“Rob was no fan of the president, and because of that, the president was no fan of Rob’s,” he said. “Just about 12 hours after Rob and Michele had been murdered in their own home, he wanted to take the opportunity to go on social media and post his thoughts about this tragedy. I feared this was something he was going to do, and I was pretty certain that it would cast a shadow on what was already a really dark day, but it was even worse than I could have imagined.”

How Did ‘Elsbeth’ Throw Shade at Leonardo DiCaprio’s Famous Dating History?

Elsbeth on CBS is known for finding unique ways to poke fun at celebrities — and Leonardo DiCaprio is the show’s latest target.

During the Thursday, December 11, episode of the show, Elsbeth (Carrie Preston) looked into a case where a fallen ’90s supermodel returned to New York for a reunion and revenge. Elsbeth got involved when a murder linked back to a past crime — and got help from supermodel Nadine (Laura Benanti).

While looking into the mystery, Elsbeth visited a model house and learned from Nadine that there was a top-secret entrance.

“We used to call it the Leo latch in honor of you-know-who’s secret late-night forays,” Nadine teased. “Men would do anything for models. It is so sweet — and sad.”

Leonardo DiCaprio’s Complete Dating History

DiCaprio’s love life has made headlines over the years — as has the age gap between the actor, 51, and some of his ex-girlfriends. Models Bar Refaeli, Toni Garrn, Nina Agdal and Kelly Rohrbach were all linked to DiCaprio over the years.

Before their 2022 split, DiCaprio also notably dated Camila Morrone, who is 23 years his junior.

Morrone, 28, previously claimed that their age difference wasn’t an issue, telling the Los Angeles Times in 2019, “There’s so many relationships in Hollywood — and in the history of the world — where people have large age gaps. I just think anyone should be able to date who they want to date.”

DiCaprio briefly dated supermodel Gigi Hadid after parting ways with Morrone. He then moved on with model Vittoria Ceretti, whom he is still currently dating.

“As soon as you’re in a relationship with someone who has a larger following than you, you become ‘girlfriend of’ — or ‘boyfriend of,’ for that matter. And that can be extremely annoying,” Ceretti, 27, told Vogue France in April. “Suddenly, people are talking about you as so-and-so’s girlfriend who was so-and-so’s ex. So, it’s not nice to think that you can’t love whoever you want, because of the labels people need to stick on you.”

Ceretti continued, “It’s something you learn. If what you’re experiencing is real, if you know you love each other, then there’s no reason to be alarmed. Because love protects and gives confidence.”

Did You Realize ‘Elsbeth’ on CBS Is Subtly Throwing the Best Celeb Shade?

More recently, DiCaprio reflected on turning 50 and how that shifted his perspective on his life.

“It creates a feeling like you have a desire to just be more honest and not waste your time,” he told Esquire in August. “I can only imagine how the next few decades are going to progress. I look at my mother, for example, and she just says exactly what she thinks and wastes no time. She spends no time trying to fake it.”

DiCaprio explained that getting older made him more selective about his inner circle.

“Being more upfront and risking having things fall apart or risk the disagreements or risk going your separate ways from any type of relationship in life — the personal, professional — it’s that you just don’t want to waste your time anymore,” he continued. “You have to just be much more upfront. It’s almost a responsibility because much more of your life is behind you than it is ahead of you.”

Elsbeth airs on CBS Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET. New episodes stream the next day on Paramount+.

Britney Spears’ Ex-Husband Sam Asghari Poses Nude for ‘Playgirl’

Britney Spears’ ex-husband Sam Asghari bared it all in a new cover shoot.

Asghari, 31, was featured on the cover of the December issue of Playgirl, which dropped on Wednesday, December 10. The photoshoot included several steamy shots of Asghari.

In one cover option, Asghari can be seen standing in front of a greenery scene as he posed nude. The model held a towel and placed it over his groin area.

A second shot showed Asghari sitting in a bath tub filled with bubbles. He appeared to be wearing black shorts in the water. His hair was wet as he splashed the water.

Why Sam Asghari Needs His ‘Space’ From Britney Spears

Asghari can also be seen standing in a room wearing only a towel in a second shot.

In addition to Asghari’s photos sans clothing, the Traitors alum posed shirtless several times.

In his chat with the outlet, Asghari shared that he follows the Iranian proverb that says you must never speak ill of those you’ve eaten with when it comes to speaking about his time with Spears.

“So, I always want to respect that,” he explained. “I’m always going to stick to that, and that’s the number one thing for me.”

Asghari met Spears, now 44, in 2016 while on set for her “Slumber Party” music video, where he played the pop star’s love interest. The pair hit it off and confirmed their relationship the following year. Asghari and Spears got engaged in September 2021 after four years of dating.

The couple tied the knot the following year.

News broke in July 2023, that Spears and Asghari split after one year of marriage. Their divorce was finalized in May 2024.

“And the best thing you can do is celebrate the past, appreciate the past, and not dwell on the fact that it’s over,” Asghari told Playgirl of his and Spears’ time together. “Be happy it ever even happened.”

Earlier this year, Spears opened up about her marriage to Asghari, saying it helped her cope with her estrangement from her sons Jayden James and Sean Preston. (Spears shares her sons with ex-husband Kevin Federline whom she was married to from 2004 to 2007.)

“I was cut off from calling or texting and I remember in shock my secret to survival was denial and a lot of tears its weird me and Sam were married but it almost felt like a fake distraction to help me deal with it,” Spears wrote via Instagram in August.

Two months later, Asghari exclusively told Us Weekly that he considered Spears’ message to be a “great compliment.”

“And sometimes, you know, we can turn distractions into great things,” he said in October. “So that’s a good thing for me.”

Asghari added that he wishes Spears nothing but the best.

“I just hope the happiest for her,” Asghari said. “And like I said before that, I celebrate the past, and it’s a big part of me, so I think everything should go well for her.”

Since his split from Spears, Asghari has moved on with girlfriend Brooke Irvine. Asghari and the real estate agent confirmed their romance in January. Asghari exclusively told Us in April that their relationship was “not about the industry, it’s not about Hollywood.”

“It’s about what really is the most important thing, and that’s being present, being in the moment and supporting others that are doing this same thing,” he explained.

Why Ryan Serhant Didn’t Care If ‘Owning Manhattan’ Had No Real Estate Deals

Despite Owning Manhattan following his real estate brokerage, Ryan Serhant made a surprise admission about not needing for the show to feature onscreen house sales.

“Everything is real [on the show] because everything else is big and everyone has a facade, everyone lies. Nothing is real, I believe nothing,” Serhant, 41, quipped during an exclusive interview with Us Weekly. “So it would be a disservice to the world to create another fake reality TV show.”

Serhant had “literally zero interest” in manufacturing success.

“I was totally fine going into filming if we do no deals. But we tried really hard. Even if all the deals died or fell apart and the company had to file for bankruptcy,” he joked. “That is the season finale of a show that I would watch. It’d be terrible for my real life but it would be the reality of it. It’s refreshing in a way that I haven’t seen in this format before.”

Which ‘Owning Manhattan’ Stars Are — And Aren’t — Returning for Season 2?

The real estate mogul and CEO of SERHANT previously appeared on Bravo’s Million Dollar Listing: New York from 2012 to 2021. He then starred in the 2017 spinoffs Sell It Like Serhant and Ryan’s Renovation. Serhant’s history with reality TV allowed him to help make Owning Manhattan stand out as a real estate show that prioritizes unique storytelling.

“What made season 1 so special — and the reason I wanted to do it — is because I spent 10 years on Million Dollar Listing New York for Bravo. I wanted to make a deal show. People love Shark Tank and like deal shows in the scripted world such as Succession and Gossip Girl. Owning Manhattan is not about the drama. It’s about the deals,” he noted to Us. “It is also about what happens because of the deals — and they’re real deals.”

Serhant encouraged viewers to follow along online.

“One of the fun things about Owning Manhattan is people can watch the show and then follow along on social media, on the MLS and in the press. They can see if a deal is really closed,” he explained. “It’s what makes this show so different.”

Which TV Shows Are Renewed in 2025-2026?

In addition to starring in Owning Manhattan, Serhant’s role as executive producer allowed him to lean into his creativity when it came to the show’s structure.

“To do something big and scary that people haven’t seen before like talking to [a] camera in a reality show, having voiceovers and we have one takes in this show. Or the camera just follows the back of my head as I’m about to go do something insane and there’s drones flying through the city — it just really sets the world,” he noted. “It lets the audience know this is not something you’ve seen before and this is worth watching. … I give Netflix a lot of credit for allowing us to play and allowing me to really, really push the envelope on format.”

Owning Manhattan is streaming on Netflix.
