Human Rights Ambassadors’ Chizaso Gondwe claims Tonse Alliance shared MK30bn AIP not stolen

MK30 billion AIP stolen

By Vincent Gunde

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Human Right’s Ambassadors (HRA) Deputy Director Happy Chizaso Gondwe, has claimed that MK30 billion meant for Affordable Input Programme (AIP]) was not stolen but shared amongst Tonse Alliance partners for them to see a change in their parties.

Ever since Agriculture service committee of Parliament Sammer Suleman broke the news that MK30 billion AIP was stolen at the Ministry of Agriculture headquarters, there has been silence from the Alliance partners a development which is worrisome to the country.

No Alliance partner stood up to stand with farmers to account for the missing money believed to have entered into an account of an animal slaughtering company.

All Tonse Alliance partners are quiet meaning that the partners entered into government not for servant leadership but to steal and become rich.

Gondwe alleges that the said missing money entered into President Lazarus Chakwera’s personal bank account in the United Kingdom (UK) arguing that it is not surprising that the ACB was not consulted or notified in the money transactions.

Gondwe has dared President Chakwera that if he is not involved in the fertilizer scam, he should fire his Agriculture Minister Lobin Lowe and Minister of Finance Sosten Gwengwe for investigations to commence so that all involved must be brought to book for prosecutions.

He noted that President Chakwera failure to fire these two ministers in the fertilizer scam would make Malawians to suspect that he is part of the deal and this has defeated his HI-5 Agenda for servant leadership in government.

Gondwe therefore faulted Gwengwe for approving payment of the money without the blessings of the ACB saying jumping the ACB is speaking for itself that Tonse Alliance government is thieving in government and cannot be trusted in any way.

Gondwe said there are many business persons within Malawi who could have been given the tender to supply fertilizer citing Mulli Brothers, Newton Kambala and others, wondering why Government opted for a foreign butchery company which in the end duped the Agriculture Ministry.

“This is October, there is nothing for farmers and they are not aware where to access the fertilizers with ADMARC closed,” worried Gondwe.

The country’s graft agency, Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) plans to probe on the matter.

Malawi court stops Human Rights Ambassadors’ Lilongwe demos

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The High Court Lilongwe registry on Wednesday morning, July 20, 2022 issued an injunction suspending the demonstrations that were supposed to take place today starting this morning until an inter-parte hearing is heard.

The protesters under the banner Human Rights Ambassadors are against what they call “selective justice in the judiciary”.

No demos today

The injunction has been obtained by lawyer Gift Nankhuni on behalf of a John Kwenda and others.

The court says disobeying the order would constitute contempt of court with probable results of fines or imprisonment.

The claimants are demanding a list of names of those to be liable if protests ended in damage to property, assurance that the protests would be peaceful, an audio or written communication calling for peaceful protests and retraction of an audio by one Ben Longwe in which he is allegedly calling for violence and commission of offence.

But protestors have already started gathering in the streets of Lilongwe.

Human Rights Ambassadors give Chakwera, Chilima seven days to resign

By Vincent Gunde

MANGOCHI-(MaraviPost)-The Human Rights Ambassadors (HRAs)on Thursday, June 16, 2022 joined tens of thousands of Malawians in Mangochi holding demonstrations against President Lazarus Chakwera and his Vice Saulosi Chilima for failing to fulfill campaign promises and high cost of living.

Mangochi says no to Chakwera leadership

Just as last week in Mulanje, many people turned up for the demonstrations speaking for itself that things are not good in Malawi and Malawians are answering a question on whether or not the country can go into a Referendum as it was on 14th June, 2014.

Apart for Malawi to hold a Referendum, the HRA is also asking Malawians to speak out by expressing their views on whether or not they are happy with Chakwera –Chilima governance system which has made many Malawians to remain in Egypt than to go to the promised- land, Canaan.

Delivering the petition to the Mangochi District Commissioner, leader of the HRAs demonstrators, Kingsley Mpaso has given Chakwera seven days to resign with a warning that failure to resign, will force Malawians to hold a vigil at Capital Hill in Lilongwe.

Mpaso said Malawians heard it by themselves from Chakwera’s mouth that if he fails to deliver in two years after being voted into power, he will resign saying the President has to live to his words now.

“It’s not a secret at all , he promised to resign if he fails to run government in 2 years, no need to remind him, he should resign now, as per his words,’’ said Mpaso.

State house is yet to respond on the demands.

Chakwera Tonse government is unable to fix the ailing economy since two years in power.
