Gene Simmons Blames ‘Bad Decisions’ For Death of Kiss Bandmate Ace Frehley

Kiss frontman Gene Simmons believes “bad decisions” resulted in the death of his former bandmate, Kiss guitarist and cofounder Ace Frehley.

In an interview with the New York Post, published on Saturday, December 6, Simmons, 76, detailed his perspective. “He refused [advice] from people that cared about him — including yours truly — to try to change his lifestyle. In and out of bad decisions. Falling down the stairs — I’m not a doctor — doesn’t kill you. There may have been other issues, and it breaks my heart,” Simmons said.

He continued, “The saddest thing — you reap what you shall sow, unfortunately.”

Us Weekly confirmed on November 10 that Frehley died at the age of 74 after suffering from a stroke and “subdural hematoma” caused by a fracture to the back of his skull, on October 16. His death was ruled an accident. It was first reported on by TMZ at the time.

Simmons’ New York Post interview also discussed the private funeral service that was held for Frehley on October 22. “Peter Criss, our founding drummer, Paul [Stanley] and myself went to the funeral, open casket,” Simmons told the outlet. “It was just heartbreaking.”

Frehley’s death was confirmed by his family in a statement provided to Us after his death. “We are completely devastated and heartbroken,” the statement read. “In his last moments, we were fortunate enough to have been able to surround him with loving, caring, peaceful words, thoughts, prayers and intentions as he left this earth. We cherish all of his finest memories, his laughter and celebrate his strengths and kindness that he bestowed upon others.”

The statement concluded, “The magnitude of his passing is of epic proportions and beyond comprehension. Reflecting on all of his incredible achievements, Ace’s memory will continue to live on forever!”

The statement also noted that Frehley died peacefully while surrounded by family in Morristown, New Jersey. The death occurred just 10 days after Frehley announced that he would cancel the remainder of a 2025 solo tour due to medical issues.

Additionally, the cancellation notice came two weeks after Frehley pulled the pin on a scheduled September 26 show due to a fall inside his home that landed him in the hospital.

Us spoke with Frehley’s manager, John Ostrosky, in the days following his death. “Since 1976, Space Ace has been my Superman. His kindness, caring, and inclination to mentor was at the forefront until the very end. His influence will live with me forever,” Ostrosky told Us at the time.

Kiss was composed of Frehley, Simmons, Stanley and Criss, rising to fame in the 1970s and boasting 14 platinum albums to its name. Frehley left the band in 1982 amid creative differences, going on to form his own band, Frehley’s Comet, before shifting paths again and going solo.

Frehley released his first solo album, 10,000 Volts, in 2024. In an interview with SiriusXM in February, the musician revealed that he has started work on a new album of cover tracks titled Origins Vol. 3.

Britney Spears Deletes Instagram Amid Kevin Federline’s Memoir Controversy

Britney Spears seemingly deactivated her Instagram account amid a public battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline.

Originally reported on by People on Sunday, November 2, Us Weekly confirmed that the account held by Spears, 43, could no longer be found that day.

Us has reached out to a representative for Spears for comment.

The alleged deactivation comes after a string of controversial claims from Federline regarding Spears’ behavior while raising the pair’s two children, Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19.

Britney Spears and Kevin Federline’s Timeline: From Divorce to Coparenting

The news also comes less than one week after a restaurant manager exclusively told Us that the singer was not acting erratically while out for dinner in Westlake Village, California, one day prior — despite a report from the Daily Mail that claimed otherwise.

Additionally, an Instagram post shared by Spears on October 7 sparked concern after the pop star was seen with “bruises on her arms and bandages wrapped around her hands and wrists,” per People’s report on Sunday.

The outlet noted that Spears’ caption on the video included details of how she had “fallen down stairs” at a friend’s house, and also offered insight into her headspace. “My boys had to leave and go back to Maui. This is the way I express myself and pray through art … father who art in heaven,” the caption reportedly read. “I’m not here for concern or pity, I just want to be a good woman and be better … and I do have wonderful support, so have a brilliant day !!!”

Britney Spears’ Dating History: From Kevin Federline to Sam Asghari

Of the stair incident, Spears wrote, per the outlet, “It was horrible. It snaps out now and then, not sure if it’s broken but for now it’s snapped in !!! Thank u god.”

Spears’ restaurant outing came one day after Federline released his memoir, You Thought You Knew. The book features several damning claims, while the professional dancer’s promotional tour also delved into his allegations.

The Daily Mail had reported that on October 22, Spears and her assistant had dined at the Mexican restaurant before the singer “dangerously” sped back to her home in nearby Thousand Oaks. However, Oliver Wynn, the restaurant’s general manager, exclusively told Us that the recount was not “fair, realistic or true.”

He told Us, “I was there and attended to Britney and her friend. She was super chill and really nice. She was in and out of the restaurant within an hour. She just kind of hung out, grabbed a bite to eat and left.”

Wynn added that Spears sat in the eatery’s lounge and cocktail area where she ordered “a quesadilla and no alcohol,” before detailing that “another guest or fan bought her a glass of wine at the bar and brought it over to her table — she was not intoxicated.”

One day after the restaurant outing, Federline appeared on Piers Morgan Uncensored where he claimed that Preston and Jayden have distanced themselves from their mother. “[Britney] saw one of my sons one day this year, and he decided not to go back over there because of what he saw,” he told the host at the time. “The other one, Jayden, who’s my younger son, is 19 now. He’s been over there quite a few times over the past year, and he’s stopped seeing her in the last few months because of the situation.”

Federline’s book also claimed that Spears, who was married to him from 2004 to 2007, did cocaine while she was a breast-feeding mother amid other accusations. Spears slammed the book’s allegations in a statement shared with Us by her rep ahead of the book’s launch on October 14. “With news from Kevin’s book breaking, once again he and others are profiting off her, and sadly it comes after child support has ended with Kevin. All she cares about are her kids, Sean Preston and Jayden James, and their well-being during this sensationalism,” the statement read.

The Valleys Jesse Lally and Michelle Saniei agreed in their divorce settlement that they are both successful on their own and do not need each other to provide support, Us Weekly can exclusively report.

Us obtained the settlement submitted to the court on Monday, October 27. Per the deal, the parties agreed that irreconcilable differences had arisen between them that made the marriage impossible.

The exes will share custody of their daughter, Isabella, with each parent having two uninterrupted weeks at a time. Both agreed to work together on decisions for Isabella’s schooling and medical decisions. Saniei will have Isabella on her birthday, and Lally, 43, will have their daughter on his, per the agreement.

“The custodial parent shall have the discretion to determine Isabella’s attendance at social events during their custodial time,” the deal said.

“Taking into consideration all relevant facts and circumstances of the respective Parties, neither spouse seeks or requires of the other any permanent spousal support now or in the future. Due to the respective financial circumstances of the Parties, this absolute and irrevocable waiver of spousal support is fair and equitable,” the deal read. “Each party acknowledges that he or she is healthy, gainfully employed and/or fully capable of supporting and maintaining oneself and does completely waive the right to obtain spousal support from the other.”

The deal said Lally was awarded a 2024 BMW M850i, several bank accounts, an IRS tax payment for 2018 and several credit cards.

Saniei will keep a 2025 BMW X-1, two bank accounts at Chase, all rights to her company and three credit cards.

The exes noted they owe a low six-figure sum on a loan they took out together and agreed to split the bill. The monthly payment on the loan is $1,472, which they will both pay a portion of each month.

The exes said the loan was the only community debt. The deal also said both parties would pay their own legal fees.

As Us first reported, Lally and Saniei informed the court of their deal on October 22.

At the time, Saniei told Us, “I’m grateful we reached an agreement and we can both start a new chapter in our lives. Our No. 1 priority has always been Isabella, and we’ll continue to coparent to be the best parents for her.”

Lally added, “Michelle and I have taken the last step towards finalizing our divorce. We’re moving forward with mutual respect for each other and focusing on making memories with Isabella.”

As Us previously reported, following the split, Lally started dating Lacy Nicole. In July, Michelle and her boyfriend Aaron Nosler ended things after one year of dating.

African Leaders at the Forefront of Water and Climate Resilience at the Global Summit in Madrid

MADRID, Spain, 20th October 2025 -/African Media Agency(AMA)/-As droughts, floods, and water crises intensify across the continent, African ministers and leaders are mobilizing ahead of the 2025 Sector Ministers’ Meeting (SMM), taking place on October 22–23 in Madrid. This political convergence marks a decisive step in the continent’s collective effort to secure water security and strengthen climate resilience.

A continental mobilization in the face of the hydro-climate emergency

Organized by the Government of Spain, UNICEF, and the Sanitation and Water for All (SWA) partnership, the meeting brings together representatives from over 60 countries under the theme “Breaking Silos: Uniting Political Leadership to Integrate Water, Sanitation and Climate Action.”

Figures from the WHO/UNICEF Joint Monitoring Programme highlight the magnitude of the challenge: nearly 400 million people in sub-Saharan Africa still lack access to safe drinking water, while over 700 million are without safely managed sanitation. These deficits are compounded by climate change, from droughts in the Horn of Africa to flooding across the Sahel.

Concrete political commitments to turn challenges into opportunities

The summit aims to deliver three key strategic outcomes. The High-Level Pact on Water Security and Resilience will enable African governments to turn their ambitions into measurable commitments, supported by a Mutual Accountability Mechanism ensuring transparent monitoring of progress.

The event also serves as a springboard toward COP30 in Brazil and the UN 2026 Water Conference, ensuring that African perspectives shape global water-climate policies.

Africa as a laboratory of hydro-climate innovation

The continent continues to demonstrate its capacity for innovation through ambitious initiatives, from Kenya’s investments in climate-resilient water infrastructure, to Ghana’s universal sanitation drive, and Ethiopia’s efforts to integrate water and climate planning.

SMM 2025 will amplify the exchange of experiences and accelerate progress toward Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6), ensuring availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.

“African governments have proven that when political will meets partnership, results follow,” said Muyatwa Sitali, Acting Executive Director of SWA. “Africa’s leadership will be critical in achieving lasting change.”

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-In the past 24 hours, Malawi has registered two new COVID-19 cases, 17 new recoveries and no new deaths. All new cases are locally transmitted and both are from Lilongwe District. No new deaths were registered in the past 24 hours.

Cumulatively, Malawi has recorded 61,747 cases including 2,296 deaths (Case Fatality Rate is at 3.72%). Of these cases, 2,663 are imported infections and 59,084 are locally transmitted.

Cumulatively, 57,068 cases have now recovered (recovery rate of 92.4%) and 232 were lost to follow-up. This brings the total number of active cases to 2,151.

In the past 24 hours, there was one new admission (the new admission is not vaccinated) in the treatment units while two cases were discharged.

Currently, a total of six active cases are currently hospitalised (One case is in critical condition and is not vaccinated): two in Lilongwe, and one each in Mzimba North, Zomba, Mulanje, and Neno Districts.

On testing, in the past 24 hours, 510 COVID-19 tests were conducted. Of these, 245 tests were through SARS-CoV-2 Antigen Rapid Diagnostic test while the rest were through RT-PCR.

The positive cases out of the total number tested (past 24 hours) translates to a positivity rate of 0.4% a weekly positivity rate (seven days moving average) is at 1%.

Cumulatively, 421,512 tests have been conducted in the country so far. On COVID-19 vaccination, a total of 1,178,109 vaccine doses has been administered in the country so far.

Over the past 24 hours, 4,331 and 2,576 people have received first dose and second of AstraZeneca vaccine respectively while 574 people have received Johnson and Johnson vaccine. Cumulatively, 531,434 people
are fully vaccinated.

I would like to commend all people who are continuing to practice COVID-19 preventive and containment behaviours, which has contributed to the reduction in the number of new COVID-19 infections, admissions and deaths that is being observed in our country.

The reduction being observed is as a result of our collaborative efforts in the COVID-19 fight and it is important that we maintain the momentum to supress further the COVID-19 transmission.

The low numbers being reported should not be cause for anybody to lax. While the numbers of new cases are low, the risk remains high as we still have over 2,000 active cases and we are still recording new cases on a daily basis.

In order to further supress the COVID-19 infections in our country, everyone needs to practice all the preventive and containment measures.

Further to adherence to the preventive measures, those aged 18 years and above should ensure that they have received the COVID19 vaccine to reduce the risk of severe disease, hospitalization and deaths due to COVID-19.

Evidence from our data indicates that the vaccines are working as the majority that are developing severe illness and dying from COVID-19 in our country are not vaccinated.

This is not the time to lower our guard, COVID-19 is still here as evidenced by the new confirmed cases being reported on daily basis. Everyone needs to;
 wash hands regularly with soap and water or use alcohol based sanitizer,
 always wear a mask when in public places as the mask helps reduce the risk of contracting COVID-19. The masks are only valuable when used correctly by covering your mouth and nose.
 maintain physical distance of at least 1 metre between yourself and others
 strict adherence of the preventive measures in mass gatherings such as weddings etc, as any mass gathering has risks associated with it, outdoors is better than indoors and importantly the venue should allow physical distancing of at least one meter between delegates and ensure adequate hand washing/sanitizing stations.
 practice cough and sneeze etiquette
 getting vaccinated for those that are aged 18 years and above

No one is safe until everyone else is safe. Get Fully Vaccinated! Wear Face Mask! Protect yourself. Protect your loved ones. Protect everyone.
