United States Should End Its Blockade and Brutal Military Occupation of The Cuban Island of Guantanamo Bay

The United States must immediately end its hostile policies and aggressive rhetoric against Cuba. For over thirty years now, the global community, through the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) has voted massively demanding the US government to lift its illegal, diabolic and spurious economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba. And, in recent years, the world body has also demanded for the United States to remove the Caribbean nation from its list of state sponsors of terrorism.

As the United Nations General Assembly prepares to vote this year on the US blockade against Cuba, we, the volunteers of the Hugo Chavez International Foundation for Peace, Friendship and Solidarity (HCIF-PFS) add our voices to demand an end to US blockade and other hostile policies and collective punishment meted on the Cuban population. The UNGA is expected this year to vote massively in few hours, against the US blockade on Cuba, which has a devastating impact on the economic situation of the Caribbean nation and negatively affects the living standards of the Cuban people. It also goes against United Nations Charter and most cherished principles that are defined in international and humanitarian laws.

As the Assembly is ready to vote again on the issue, we understand that the US is applying diplomatic pressure on allies to change their position. We urge all African member-states in the world body, to continue to stand firm in saying enough is enough, and reject this criminal blockade.

Besides, the harmful impact of the blockade and the listing of the Caribbean nation on the list of State Sponsors of Terrorism, US trade and commercial sanctions, and other collective punishments against Cuba constitute measures that create severe obstacles to humanity’s relationship. They create also severe obstacles, say for instance, to all those countries that want to do legitimate businesses with or make investments in the Caribbean nation.

This blockade regime is the longest and most harmful measures adopted against a sovereign independent state, since the establishment of the United Nations in 1945. It has lasted over sixty years now since it was designed by the Deep State and imposed on Washington as a foreign policy, against Cuba and the Cuban people. We have firmly and continuously opposed any such measures, due to their extraterritorial implementation and harm to Africa and other member-states of the United Nations.

We see it unacceptable any such measures that impede the world’s economic and commercial relations with Cuba. And, concluding, we want to remind the global community of its obligations to reject any unilateral decisions that threatened the existence of another sovereign independent member-state of the United Nations. The vote for an end to the US blockade against Cuba should be seen here as a naturally-acclaimed demand, which the global community owe Cuba.

God bless the Cuba!

Chakwera up running for fuel search in Mozambique on Saturday

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-As the country continues to struggle with a fuel crisis, President Lazarus Chakwera is expected to leave for Mozambique tomorrow, Saturday, October 7, 2023, to negotiate on easy access to Nacara Corridor for easy fuel importation.

Minister of Information, Moses Kunkuyu disclosed told face the press on Friday that Chakwera is expected to meet the Zambian and Mozambique counterparts.

Kunkuyu justified the Chakwera trip saying fuel transportation from three different ports is humpering the commodity into the country.

Malawi requires 850,000 liters daily.

The minister added that the Nacara Corridor is the best option for Malawi to get enough fuel as the railway carries a lot of fuel.

In his remarks, Chief Executive Executive Officer, Clement Kanyama said Petroleum Importers Limited (PIL) has received a license for procuring fuel which will be kept in the country’s fuel reserves for future use.

Kanyama disclosed that the country is currently using traditional fuel purchases through credits and that the crisis might end soon.

He therefore assured the nation that by Monday, October 11, 2023 would have enough fuel saying; “The country will receive 59 trucks of petrol with 250 million litres”.

Kanyama said by using the Nacara Corridor fuel prices will decrease as the railway route delivers huge bulk of fuel at once.

On Chakwera’s United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) attendance, Kunkuyu admitted that the UNGA’s delegation was more than the number disclosed to the public saying the meeting had more plenaries.

He however failed to disclose the actual number of delegates that attended UNGA.

Malawi is currently in a forex crisis that making it difficult to import essential commodities including fuel, drugs, agriculture inputs, and among others.

Malawi State House caught lying on Chakwera’s UNGA trip: Forced to cancel travel

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Malawi State House has been caught lying to the nation saying that President Lazarus Chakwera cancelled trip to United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) over local matters to attend.

But details have emerged showing that President Chakwera was forced to cancel his UNGA trip because the US demanded “a mostly virtual gathering” due to Covid-19.

The details therefore exposes Chakwera’s aides who on Monday, August 30, 2021 lied to Malawians over the reasons given for the President inability to fly to the US.

Malawi State House lies comes after international media reported earlier this month that United States urged world leaders to deliver their UNGA speeches through video.

In fact Chakwera announced upon arrival from UK trip that he was to attend the 2021 UNGA but shamed after US banned the travel.

The United States discouraged world leaders from traveling to New York to attend the event in person as the U.S. fears that the UNGA could be a Covid-19super-spreader event.

“We need your help to prevent UNGA 76 High-Level Week from being a super-spreader event,” the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, wrote in an Aug. 13 letter to her counterparts in the 193-member world body.

“Heads of delegation should consider delivering their statements to the U.N. General Assembly’s General Debate by video. If delegations choose to travel to New York … we request delegations bring the minimum number of travelers necessary,” she said.

Side events hosted by the United Nations are also expected to be fully virtual as the U.S. expressed worry that travelers to New York will needlessly increases risk to communities and New Yorkers.

The Joe Biden administration’s demand for a virtual summit and restriction on size of delegation are believed to have forced President Chakwera to cancel his UNGA trip.

However, the President’s Executive Assistant Sean Kampondeni said yesterday that Chakwera has decided to attend the UNGA virtually  as he wants to attend to a number of emerging issues that require his attention so that he can move with some level of speed on addressing these concerns.

“The president felt that for him to be out of the country over the course of the month of September would cause some delays in some of these decisions that he needs to put into effect,” said Kampondeni.

The Malawi leader was expected to leave the country on September 18 and would have been in the United States for about two weeks.

Chakwera has earned the Vilemi Dazi and Siku Transport monikers for his love of traveling within and outside the country.

This publication understands that Chakwera is most traveled President in SADC local and international in a year just ascended to the Presidency in June 2020.

Malawi President Chakwera cancels 2021 UN General Assembly trip: To go virtually

Kampondeni said President Chakwera decided to cancel his trip due to emerging issues which needs to be addressed.

Over the course of the next month the president will be fully immersed in resolving these issues on behalf of the Malawians people so that he can move with some level of speed on addressing these concerns.

“The president felt that for him to be out of the country over the course of the month of September would cause some delays in some of these decisions that he needs to put into effect.

“So, he is very keen to be fully present as he makes certain decisions and execute certain actions that have become rather pressing,” said Kampondeni.
