UTM President Dr. Kabambe imparts hope in Nsanje

By Leonard Kavwenje

NSANJE-(MaraviPost)-Taking the podium with full mastery as a seasoned economist at Dinde Primary School ground in TA Malemia in the Lower Shire district of Nsanje on Sunday afternoon, UTM President Dr. Dalitso Kabambe firstly recognised the party’s Central Committee, National Executive Committee, Shadow Councilors and Members of Parliament and the entire turn up and reflexed that UTM would field strong candidates on electoral pitch come Tuesday September 16, 2025 assuring all of an unprecedented triumph.

The youthful star could not let it go but to reveal that from 18th to 21st February this year he had conducted a successful listening tour in Marka, Chididi, Tengani, Mtayamoyo and Bangula among other areas in the district and had first hand appreciation of several challenges including flooding, hunger, inaccessibility to basic needs due to skyrocketing prices, high unemployment rate, damaged roads and bridges, inaccessibility to electricity and water, poor students’ accommodation at Nsanje Secondary School and shortage of drugs at Nsanje District Hospita.

“UTM is the only possible panacea to all these terribles including the ever weakening domestic currency of Kwacha,” said Dr. Kabambe.

“The first revolution was the attainment of national political independence in 1964. The second revolution was attainment of multiparty democracy in 1994.

The third revolution is coming on Tuesday September 16, 2025 with UTM. Malawians need equal development opportunities, advanced industries, environmental sustainability programmes, modern infrastructure, tourism growth and development, increased forex earnings and realistic economic rights and freedoms,” clarified with a charming political mantra.

We’re to construct Nsanje Central Hospital to improve healthcare.

We’re to develop tourism sites of Majete, Vwaza, Lengwe and Mwabvi to rake in more forex. We’re to develop coal mines to boost mining. We’re to be distributing MWK1 billion yearly to all district councils to effectuate local development initiatives.”

Among other top officials at the rally included Presidential Advisor Honourable Dr. Patricia Kaliati, National Publicity Secretary Honourable Felix Njawala and Regional Governor for the South Mr. Richard Makondi.

“It’s time to reclaim Malawi’s future”-UTM leader Dr Kabambe’s New Year message

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The UTM president Dalitso Kabambe has said time has come for Malawians to reclaim their future.

In his New Year message, the former Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) Governor Kabambe urged Malawians to look beyond the “despair” of last year and hope for a brighter future.

He said 2025 is a year in which to fix the economy.

The UTM leader said Malawians should not ignore the decline in quality of life which they observed or the debt burden that hangs over them like a heavy cloud.

“We must fix our economy, invigorate our foreign policy and break the chains of nepotism, regionalism and tribalism that hinder our progress.

“We must actively reject corruption and cronyism, choosing instead to build a nation that is inclusive, fair and just—one that thrives on the strength of our diversity,” Kabambe said.

Dr Kabambe adds that , time had come for Malawians to unite in purpose, driven by an unwavering desire for a better Malawi—a Malawi that embodies the true spirit of democracy, justice and freedom.

“Together, we shall rise. Together, we shall forge a new path—not just for ourselves, but for every Malawian who dreams of a brighter future. Let us march forward into this New Year, armed with courage and resolve, preaching a message of real change for the betterment of our people.

“Today, we stand as rightful owners of the transformation agenda—a successful and progressive Malawi awaits us. The time for change is now, and it begins with each and every one of us,” he said.

Malawi will go to polls on September 16, this year.

Kabambe eyes independent path for 2025 elections

MZUZU-(MaraviPost)-The United Transformation Movement (UTM) presidential torchbearer, Dalitso Kabambe says the party will take an independent path for 2025 General elections.

In a bold move, Kabambe reiterated UTM’s decision to contest the 2025 elections independently, dismissing any alliances.

The former Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) Governor asserted that the party’s robust policies and vision were sufficient to steer Malawi toward progress without relying on coalition partners.

Kabambe made this declaration during a campaign visit to Mzimba on Monday, where he urged citizens to actively participate in the ongoing voter registration exercise.

He however vowed to challenge the use of Election Management Devices (EMDs) in Malawi’s electoral processes, citing alleged plans to manipulate next year’s polls.

Kabambe expressed concerns over reports of irregularities in the registration process, including alleged voter certificate buying and individuals registering multiple times.

He called for vigilance to ensure the credibility of the elections.

Kabambe
Kabambe: We need free and fair elections.

“We cannot allow technology to be used as a tool to undermine democracy. Malawians deserve free, fair, and credible elections, and UTM will not rest until we achieve that.

“Together, we must be vigilant and protect the integrity of our vote because the future of our nation depends on it,” said Kabambe.

On the development front, Kabambe pledged to prioritize the operationalization of the Kanyika Niobium Mine in Mzimba, a project with the potential to generate $600 million annually for the country.

He emphasized that such initiatives could significantly boost Malawi’s economy and improve livelihoods in the region.

With voter registration underway amid low turnout in some areas, Kabambe’s message is a call to action for Malawians to secure their role in shaping the nation’s future.

The third and last phase of voters registration exercise ends on Wednesday, December 11, 2024.

However, there has been calls for an extension of the exercise due to low turn out.

Malawi will go for polls on September 16, 2024.

Why desperate MCP media team savagedly ganging up against UTM leader Dalitso Kabambe?

By Falles Kamanga

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Very uncivilised! The rivalry between Malawi’s ruling Malawi Congress Party (MCP) and the United Transformation Movement (UTM) has taken a dramatic turn, with the MCP media team allegedly launching a coordinated campaign against Dalitso Kabambe (DK), the newly elected UTM president.

DK’s rise to prominence has shaken Malawi’s political landscape, prompting aggressive strategies from the MCP to discredit him.

Dalitso Kabambe’s leadership of the UTM has rejuvenated the party, positioning it as a formidable competitor to the MCP.

However, his ascension appears to have triggered a wave of negative rhetoric from MCP-aligned media platforms.

The campaign, characterized by coordinated social media attacks, strategically placed opinion pieces, and subtle jabs in public statements, seeks to undermine DK’s credibility.

MCP insiders suggest the media team’s actions are fueled by fears of DK consolidating opposition forces ahead of the 2025 general elections.

Critics argue that the MCP is using its media machinery not to promote its achievements but to tarnish DK’s reputation.

This approach risks alienating Malawians who are increasingly frustrated with unfulfilled promises and economic hardships under the current administration.

DK’s political trajectory has been swift and strategic. As a former Reserve Bank of Malawi governor, he built a reputation as a competent technocrat. Now, as UTM president, he represents a fresh alternative to the status quo.

The MCP’s media campaign likely stems from several factors:

Firstly, his technocratic background appeals to Malawians seeking solutions to the country’s economic woes.

Secondly, under DK’s leadership, UTM is attracting members disillusioned with the MCP and other parties.

Thirdly, DK’s potential to unite opposition parties poses a serious challenge to MCP’s grip on power.

While the MCP media team’s attacks may damage DK’s reputation among some voters, the campaign could also backfire.

Many Malawians view such tactics as a sign of desperation and political insecurity.

Instead of focusing on policy achievements, the MCP risks being seen as more concerned with silencing opposition voices than addressing national challenges.

Moreover, these attacks could strengthen DK’s support base.

Voters often rally behind leaders perceived as underdogs facing unfair treatment.

MCP’s aggressive tactics could inadvertently solidify DK’s position as a credible alternative to the ruling party.

This media war underscores the growing tension between the MCP and UTM, two parties that once collaborated under the Tonse Alliance.

The alliance’s collapse has transformed former allies into fierce rivals, with DK’s rise further intensifying the competition.

The battle between the two parties highlights deeper issues within Malawi’s political landscape, including the fragility of alliances and the lack of ideological cohesion.

As the 2025 elections approach, the MCP and UTM must decide whether to focus on personal rivalries or prioritize policies that resonate with Malawians.

Recommendations for the MCP:

Instead of attacking DK, the MCP should focus on delivering tangible results to improve Malawians’ lives.

The media team must avoid divisive rhetoric and adopt a more constructive approach to addressing opposition challenges.

For the UTM:

DK can use the MCP’s attacks to position himself as a victim of political bullying, highlighting his vision for Malawi as an alternative to the MCP’s governance.

The UTM must avoid being drawn into personal attacks and instead focus on offering concrete solutions to national problems.

In conclusion, the MCP media team’s alleged campaign against Dalitso Kabambe reflects the high stakes of Malawi’s political contest.

However, such tactics risk alienating voters and detracting from the party’s achievements.

As DK continues to gain traction, the MCP and UTM must pivot towards issue-based politics to secure their place in Malawi’s evolving political landscape.

MCP and Chakwera must face DK at ballot paper in 2025 polls when political supremacy will be determined.
