According to one of the inventors, Jean Paul Kalombo, the project is targeting about 10 million Malawians as it is easier and convenient to use.

The change e-save project won third position in the Malawi Innovators Design Competition held yesterday at Malawi University of Science and Technology ( MUST).

The two students walked away with MK1.4 million which was given to the technology category to be shared among the winners.

Kalombo expressed his happiness for the recognition of their project during the competition.

“I never expected our project to scoop third position. But my teammate told me that we have won since he saw I wasn’t standing up when my name mentioning the winners list. I was in disbelief especially seeing what other people presented,” said Kalombo.

The two are planning to partner with various interested parties to make the project more sustainable.

The prize presentation ceremony was graced by the Chief Executive Officer for Open Connect Limited as the guest of honor and it was presided by judges from all over the world.

Among other people in attendance was MUBAS vice Chancellor Nancy Chitera and the Director of Technology and Innovations in the Ministry of Education.

The inventors are fourth year Bachelor of Science in Information Technology student, Jean Paul Kalombo and third year Bachelor of Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering student Wongani Tembo.
