Residents and market users at Dowa boma are protesting a decision by district hospital authorities’ to turn Dowa boma lodge into a quarantine centre for health workers treating COVID-19 patients.
Dowa market committee chairperson, Isaac Tembo has told local media that they will not accept the move arguing that the decision is tantamount to putting life of market users at risk.
He alleged that the officials embezzled COVID-19 funds hence the decision to turn the lodge into a quarantine centre.
Dowa District Hospital spokesperson Davie Nuka says the market users should not worry as all COVID-19 preventive measures will be adhered to.
