After a two-week break in the TNM Super League due to the general elections, Malawi’s top-flight league returns this weekend with exciting fixtures lined up for Week 18.
Two giants, Mighty Wanderers and Silver Strikers, will not be in action this weekend as they are engaged in CAF club competitions, giving other teams a chance to climb the standings.
On Saturday, September 27, Mafco will host Ekhaya United at Champions Stadium while FCB Nyasa Big Bullets will face Premier Bet Dedza Dynamos at Kamuzu Stadium. Civil Service United will be looking to collect maximum points when they face Kamuzu Barracks at Civo Stadium.
On Sunday, September 28, Creck Sporting Club will battle Blue Eagles at Dimba Stadium while Karonga United will be up against Songwe Border United at Karonga Stadium with Songwe still in search of their first win of the season. At Chitipa Stadium, Chitipa United will host Moyale Barracks but they will do so without their head coach Kondwa Ikwanga, who is serving a ban.
The week 18 will be wrapped up on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, with a crucial relegation battle as Mzuzu City Hammers, who sit in 15th position, host Mighty Tigers, who are just one place above them in 14th position.
In other news Malawi football has received a major boost as Mwisho Mhango, a promising 18-year-old striker, has signed a five-year contract with German side Hannover 96.
Mhango, who honed his skills at Ascent Academy, caught the eye of international scouts after a stellar performance at the COSAFA Region 5 Youth Games in Namibia, where he was among the top scorers.
Over 40 players have already registered for the CAS Contractors Classic Open Championship, which takes place on October 4-5 at Ngaliya Lodge in Blantyre.
According to Southern Region Chess League (SRCL) chairperson Martin Nyamilandu, the response has been encouraging but more players are still needed to ensure a highly competitive tournament.
CAS Contractors Ltd. has pumped K2 million into the competition. The open category winner will take home K500,000, while the best female and junior players will receive K140,000 and K50,000 respectively.

The FDH Premier Netball League heats up this weekend as Civonets Netball Team aims to reclaim top position. Civonets, currently third with 8 points from 4 games, will travel to the Northern Region for the first time this season to face Ekwendeni Resource and Karonga Queens on Saturday.
If they win both matches, Civonets will overtake Kukoma Diamonds, who sit at the summit with 10 points but have no fixtures this weekend.
At Rosadale Court in the Northern Region, Ekwendeni Resource will face Civonets at 9:00 am before Karonga Queens take on Lioness at 10:30 am.
The afternoon fixtures will see Karonga Queens against Civonets at 2:00 pm followed by Ekwendeni Resource versus Lioness at 3:00 pm.
In Lilongwe at Gateway Mall Court, Vanessa Sisters will play Prison Queens at 9:00 am, Mafco Soldiers will face Blue Eagles at 10:30 am, and Blue Eagles will return to action at 3:00 pm against Prison Queens.
In international news, Kenya Police Bullets FC have parted ways with head coach Beldine Odemba. Former Kibera Soccer Women FC coach David Bujego is tipped to take over the role.
Chelsea FC have been fined £25,000 by the FA following their poor conduct during a 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford.
