LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Eliah Kananji and Charles Kamanga face off in TNM Super League match on Saturday, May 28,2022 at Nankhaka Stadium as they look forward to a return into winning ways.

The two sides, Blue Eagles FC and Kamuzu Barracks FC, have failed to register wins in their past 2 and 3 games they have played.

Area 30 based side has equaled power with Dedza Dynamos in Balaka and Civil Service United at home Nankhaka with a nil nil margin while Kamuzu Barracks FC drew nil nil against Civil Service United, lost 0-3 away at Silver Stadium against Silver Strikers FC before sharing spoils with fellow MDF side, MAFCO FC in Nkhotakota, Dwangwa Chitowe Stadium last weekend.

Eliah Kananji side, Blue Eagles FC, is currently enjoying good form in the league despite dropping 6 points from Nyasa Big Bullets FC, Civil Service United and Dedza Dynamos stalemates.

The team has managed to win 8 games from 11 they have played and undefeated, currently occupying second position on log table with 27 points, 2 points a drift league leaders Nyasa Big Bullets FC.

The team has kept 8 clean sheets while Kamuzu Barracks FC has won 5 times, drew 3 games and lost twice from 10 games played and sitting on position 4 with 18 points with 3 clean sheets.

The Chioko boys will be welcoming back into action the services of Chimwemwe Chisambi,Goalkeeper Bonage Lweya who have been out due to injuries.

Lweya replaces Captain Lehman Nthala who is serving his red card he received when playing Silver Strikers FC.

The Soldiers however will depend on Helbert Wayekha, Patrick Banda, Zeliat Nkhoma, Ndaona Daisi, Kelvin Hanganda among others when playing the cops away from home.

His counterpart Eliah Kananji will welcome back Gilbert Chirwa, John Malidadi Jnr,Oswald Maonga who have been out due to injuries.

But he will still miss the services of in form captain Schumacher Kuwali who has just started light training. Kuwali has been instrumental since his return from UD Songo SC, Mozambique scoring 4 goals for Eagles with 6 assists,starting in 8 games.

However, if statistics are something to go by in football,Saturday’s game at Nankhaka is open to both sides.

Past 6 meetings of the two teams have seen each side winning once,equaling power 4 times and losing once.

On July 22, 2018 Blue Eagles FC defeated the Soldiers by 1-0 margin at home Nankhaka in the first round of the TNM Super League before sharing spoils 0-0 on 20th October, 2018 at Civo Stadium home for Kamuzu Barracks FC in the second round.

In 2019 season KB triumphed 0-2 away at Nankhaka in the first round match played on 11th May before they played a goalless draw at Civo Stadium in the return leg on 22nd September.

In 2021 season the two equalled power in all two games with nil nil margins in games played on 3rd April,and 29th August respectively.

Major achievements, Kamuzu Barracks FC won TNM Superleague in 2016,they once won Carlsberg cup and FISD Challenge Cup while Blue Eagles FC were the Champions of Standard Bank cup in 2011 after defeating Moyale Barracks FC 2-1 at Silver Stadium goals scored by Innocent Bokosi and John CJ Banda.

Andy Simkonda scored for the Lions of Kaning’ina on 11th December,in the following year 2012 the Cops were 1 nil victors over ESCOM United to win Carlsberg Malawi Cup Championship.

The team also won Airtel Top 8 in 2018 over Nyasa Big Bullets FC at Bingu National Stadium before winning FISD Challenge Cup in 2019.

In pre- match interview Blue Eagles FC coach, Eliah Kananji, said they have prepared well for the match against their city rivals and was quick to describe it as a tough encounter.

He vowed to collect maximum points on Saturday. Kananji added, collecting 3 points will be vital as it will help to meet their target they set as team of winning 10 games in the first round which they have won 8 hence looking forward to win in the remaining 4 games.

Charles Kamanga, Kamuzu Barracks FC head coach, said the team has rectified their problems of scoring and vowed to end Blue Eagles FC unbeaten record in 11 games come Saturday.

Blue Eagles FC are remaining with TN Stars, Ekwendeni Hammers, Mighty Wanderers and Kamuzu Barracks FC to wind up the first round of the 2022 TNM Super League season.
