LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-With five games played so far in the 2022 TNM Super League for Blue Eagles FC of area 30, the cops are yet to test a defeat and currently flying high on the summit of the table.
The cops have collected 13 points from possible 15 following their Saturday’s April 16, 2022 one nil victory over Karonga United at their own backyard at Nankhaka.
The lone goal was scored by Gaddie Chirwa at 31st minute of the first half.
He made a beautiful run after receiving a beautiful ball from their prominent midfielder Gilbert Chirwa.
Gaddie Chirwa had chances of scoring more than three goals but ended up squandering them.
First half ended with the host leading by a goal to nil.The game was marred with tempers as both sides started playing physical game with aerial balls.
Alfred Chilinda blew the whistle to resume the second half,the teams still failed to settle well and to display beautiful football which could entertain few spectators present in the stadium.
Eliah Kananji, Blue Eagles FC Coach, made several changes with the early one coming at 19th minute which saw John Malidadi Jnr being taken off due to injury.
Laurent Banda replaced him,Stuart Mbunge,Arthur Moffat and Chikondi Mvula came on at 72nd minute for Gaddie Chirwa, Laurent Banda and Paul Master.
Karonga also substituted Gift Kasambala, Allen Chihana, Josiah Duwa for Dan Sibale,Samuel Joseph.
Last season it ended three all at Nankhaka between the two sides before playing to a nil nil draw away in Karonga.
Next fixture for Blue Eagles FC is on Wednesday away in Balaka at Balaka Stadium against Redlions.
Contrary to what the Cops went through last season under Gerald Phiri Snr when they battled for so long in the relegation zone until the last match.
This season Eagles are enjoying good form under Eliah Kananji, is He the promised Messiah for the cops?.
Kananji after the game praised his charges for the victory while acknowledging they didn’t play their game. He attributed the poor performance to physical game.
Kananji added the battle is still on for the championship hence warned his charges against complacency but rather treat each and every game as it comes.
Team Manager for Karonga United, Wilberforce Longwe, attributed the loss to the poor officiation saying his charges lost the spirit after the referee flushed cards to their side.
Longwe added they will sit down and see what to do in their next fixture on Sunday against Civil Service United.
