Zambian cop gun down wife, self over marital disputes

NDOLA-(MaraviPost)-A police officer in Zambia gunned down his wife before shooting himself dead after marital dispute in Ndola, Pamodzi Township.

The Pamodzi Community Police official confirmed the news in a statement following the tragedy.

According to LusakaTimes, the wife left her marital home on Saturday, September 17, 2022 following growing threats from her husband who allegedly threatened to kill her one day and later kill himself.

On the fateful day, the cop knocked off from work and went to his wife’s house in Kawama and shoot her. He allegedly also shot his sister in-law in the leg after a failed attempt to shoot the couple’s one year old baby.

He Proceeded to Pamodzi Community Police Post where he was working at the time after being transferred from Kawama Police Post where he shot himself outside the station.

Ndola Teaching Hospital Public Relations Manager, Shoena Kamwendo confirmed that the couple were already dead by the time they were taken to the hospital.

The sister to the victim, Sylvia Kasakula, is currently in a stable condition but that the bullet is still stuck in the leg and is expected to have it removed on a later date.

The two bodies of the deceased have been deposited in the hospital mortuary awaiting burial.
