Lilongwe, January 6: Ministry of Health spokesperson Henry Chimbali has said that the ministry has stepped up its efforts to fight disease outbreaks that are associated with the rainy season.

Chimbali told Malawi News Agency (Mana) on Monday that they have not received any cases of waterborne disease outbreaks.

“We are aware that rainy seasons give birth to different types of diseases and as ministry, so far we have not yet received any cases of outbreaks.

“We are well prepared for any case of outbreak as we have improved sanitary conditions of all healthy centres throughout Malawi. We have also increased the supply of needed health equipment and drugs to all health centres in all districts,” said Chimbali.

He also said the ministry has rolled out different initiatives to strengthening awareness concerning good health practices, including sensitizing people on good hygiene through community education on the use of toilets and safe water.
