Malawian Father Fatally stabs un-controllable son in Chinsapo

Lilongwe, February 3, 2015: Police in Lilongwe are keeping in custody a 52-year-old man for allegedly stabbing his son in the chest in Chinsapo.

Lilongwe Police Public Relations Officer, Kingsley Dandaula identified the suspect as Gradwell Rajab of Kabuthu village, Traditional Authority (T/A) Jalasi in Mangochi and the deceased as Gayse Gradwell, 20.

 

He said on January 31, 2015, the deceased (Gayse) had a quarrel with his friend at around 7 in the evening and the suspect (Rajab) wanted counsel his son to stop arguing with friends.

“He took the son for counseling but the deceased was not happy and then he started breaking glasses of windows of his fathers’ house. The suspect tried ways to calm him but he failed up to the incident that the child took the knife to stub his father on the shoulder,” said Dandaula.

He said the father struggled but overpowered the deceased, but accidentally stabbed the son in the chest in the course.

Dandaula said the deceased was referred to Kamuzu Central Hospital for examination where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

He said the postmortem conducted revealed that the deceased (Gayse) died due to loss of blood.

He said the suspect will appear before court soon to answer charges of murder contrary to section 209 of the Penal
