Salima Primary School Teachers protest over unpaid Dues

1 Min Read

Salima primary school teachers joined hands and boycotted their work on wednesday and took to the streets over unpaid dues.

The teachers converged and marched from Nsalura Teachers Development Center to present their petition to the District Chairman. This comes after numerous negotiations with the District Education Manager proved futile.

Among other issues presented in the petition, the teachers are demanding their leave grants and arrears accumulated since last year. The teachers are also demanding the unpaid allowances of the student teachers practising under the ODL and IPTE programs which have not been paid for over four months now.

The teachers have since given the Ministry of education up to wednesday, 11 February next week to resolve their grievances and failure to do that then they are going on full strike until their demands are met.

Efforts to talk to the spokesperson in the Ministry of Education on this matter hit a snag as her phone could not be reached
