LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Member of Parliament (MP) for Dowa West Abel Kayembe has called upon government to expedite the Chimwaza, Malembo, Nambuma road to fulfill the promise made during campaign period as it is the strong hold for Malawi congress Party (MCP).
Kayembe made the remarks on Sunday, September 25, 2023 at Mdika ground at Mponera.
According to Kayembe the road was allocated MK65 Billion from millennium challenge project and has asked the president to find means of making the road project happen.
The legislator also asked Chakwera government to consider creating a temporary ADMARC depot as the area has been hit by hunger badly since June this year.
“We lost 200 hectares during cyclone ANA and recently 5 farmers lost their lives due to poor security in the area,” said Kayembe.
In his remarks, Minister of Homeland security Zikhale Ng’oma said all is in place to make sure that road rehabilitation commerces soon.
Ng’oma assured Dowa west community that Chakwera government will consider the creation of Temporary market to ease the hunger issues.
The Homeland Minister therefore distributed MK800,000 to the elderly, Youth, men and women during the rally as one way of appreciating support to the current government.
