Malawi Police plea with the public to report crimes and suspicious behavior

2 Min Read

The Malawi Police Service is concerned with what has transpired in Malawi. Different criminal activities are taking place and of late there have been continuous armed robberies terrorizing the country. These robberies have not just affected ordinary Malawians, but have also claimed lives of police officers.

However the MPS would like to assure the general public that the situation is manageable, the police are working tirelessly to overcome the malpractice that has emerged. So far, a number of arrests and recoveries have been made in connection with the crimes that occurred in the past week and months ago.

Malawi Police Service would like to further plea with the general public to continue coming forward with tips to their nearest police formations on people they suspect on various criminal activities in the country and also information on pre-planned criminal operations whether by ordinary people, family friends or even family members.

The Malawi Police department says it depends on the tips from the members of the public to curb crime. These tips assist in prevention of crimes that would cost amongst others; lives of people and loss of valuable items. Confidentiality on the sources of information will be extremely observed therefore people should not be afraid to do so.

Furthermore, the police are advising people to be observant of suspicious people in their residential areas, even when driving whether during the day or at night, people should be cautious of who is driving behind them, if they feel like they are being followed they should drive and report to the nearest police station. It is not a crime to report something suspicious to police. Let us work together to make Malawi a safe and secure place to live in.
