LILONGWE-(MaraviPost )-The Lilongwe Court on Wednesday reserved its ruling on bail application by Lin Yunhua, a Chinese national accused of corruption, to Monday, May 12,2025.

Lin is alleged to have bribed public officers to live outside prison while serving a 14-year sentence for wildlife crimes.

In court, state prosecutor Peter Sambani opposed bail, citing Lin’s history of escaping custody.

However, defense lawyer Patrick Kalimbuka argued that the allegations are unproven and that everyone has a right to bail.

Principal Resident Magistrate Benjamin Chulu is presiding over the case.

The court will also decide on the state’s application for continued detention of the suspect.
