BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday issued a directive to the Ministry of Health, instructing them to halt the recruitment process for Health Surveillance Assistants (HSAs) in all district councils.
This comes as the bureau recently launched an investigation into alleged corrupt practices under the Corrupt Practices Act.
In an interview with Maravi Post, ACB Acting Director Gerald Hillary Chilomba said the ministry is prohibited from proceeding with the recruitment without written consent.
“The ministry should not continue with the hiring process for HSAs at all Local Councils in the country without permission,” he said.
The Ministry of Health, in collaboration with the Local Government Service Commission, had advertised vacancies for HSAs, Statistical Clerks, and Hospital Attendants(HA) earlier this month.
Shortlisted candidates were scheduled to take written interviews on May 24, 2025.
