BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Umodzi Holdings on Thursday made a significant donation of colostomy bags worth K7.2 million to Kamuzu Central Hospital(KCH), providing a year’s supply for patients in need.

The bags help individuals with certain medical conditions that prevent normal bowel movements.

In an interview with journalists,KCH Deputy Director,Calorine Mwalwanda said the donation is timely, given the high demand for colostomy bags.

She noted that the hospital receives at least eight new patients requiring these bags daily.

On his part, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Umodzi Holdings,Steve Lwanda explained that the company chose to provide a 12-month supply to make a lasting impact on patients’ lives.

Initially, the KCH had requested a one-month supply, but after assessing the demand and potential impact, Umodzi Holdings decided to make the more substantial donation.

The generous act was prompted by a request from Master of Science in Adult Nursing students at Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (Kuhes), who highlighted the need for colostomy bags at the hospital.
