BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost )-The Minister of Basic and Secondary Education, Madalitso Kambauwa Wirima, says the government has put in place of several strategic plans to achieve President Lazarus Chakwera’s vision for the Malawi 2063 development agenda.
Speaking at the Ministerial Roundtable on Foundational Learning in London, UK, on Wednesday,Kambauwa Wirima highlighted the 5-Strand Foundational Education Strategy (5-SaFES) as a key initiative to tackle learning poverty.
The minister expressed gratitude to Malawi’s development partners, including the UK, World Bank, USA, Imagine Worldwide, and JBJ Foundation, for their support.
Launched three years ago, the 5-SaFES strategy focuses on developing a more suitable curriculum, enhancing learner readiness, scaling up collaborative teaching, strengthening and digitalizing governance systems, and mainstreaming continuous professional development.
The strategy has a steering committee that oversees the implementation of these strands, ensuring a comprehensive approach to improving foundational learning.
