BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Mulanje Magistrate Court on Thursday postponed the sentencing of three two police officers and a businessperson, found guilty of causing the amputation of both arms of a 13-year-old boy.

Senior Resident Magistrate Gift Msume had previously convicted the trio of grievous bodily harm and neglect of official duty, scheduling sentencing for May 22, 2025.

However, the magistrate’s absence on Thursday left lawyers and sympathizers in limbo.

On her part,Director of Criminal Litigation at State Advocate Chambers, who led the prosecution Josephine Gwaza said they are trying to reach the magistrate to understand the reason for the postponement, expecting a valid explanation.
