Chiponda praises Biwi Health Centre for measles vaccination efforts

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost )-Minister of Health Khumbidze Kandodo Chiponda has commended the Biwi Health Centre in Lilongwe for its dedication to delivering quality healthcare services to the community.

During a surprise visit to the facility on Tuesday, Chiponda expressed satisfaction with the progress made in the measles vaccination campaign, which has already vaccinated over 6,000 children.

The minister praised the healthcare workers for their commitment, good planning, and strong community relationships, which have contributed to the campaign’s success.

Chiponda urged mothers and guardians to bring their children for vaccination, emphasizing the government’s goal to eliminate measles from the country.

On her part,Biwi Health Centre Clinical Officer In-Charge Ella Khaiya Lungu attributed the success to good planning and community sensitization, which prepared the community for the vaccination campaign.

Malawi has reported 683 measles cases since October 2024 and is conducting a five-day vaccination campaign in six districts.
