Malawi FA President Haiya lauds First Capital Bank’s MK3bn Bullets sponsorship

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Football Association (FA) President Fleetwood Haiya has commended First Capital Bank for unveiling a landmark MK3 billion sponsorship deal for FCB Nyasa Big Bullets.

The sponsorship, which will run for three years, is expected to provide a major financial boost to one of Malawi’s football giants, strengthening the club’s competitiveness both domestically and in continental competitions.

Haiya described the development as a significant milestone for Malawian football, noting that such corporate investment is crucial for the growth and sustainability of the sport.

In addition to backing the Big Bullets, First Capital Bank also sponsors the Under-20 League, an initiative Haiya praised for nurturing young talent and promoting grassroots football development across the country.

“This is exactly the kind of support Malawian football needs,” Haiya said. “Investment in both top-tier teams and youth development structures ensures a strong future for the game.”

He further called on other companies within the corporate sector to emulate First Capital Bank’s commitment, emphasizing that broader support would help elevate the standards of football in Malawi.

“After the Super League of Malawi, under the leadership of Brigadier General Gilbert Mitawa secured a K1 billion Sponsorship for the league, tonight’s K3 billion investment at club level is yet another sign that our football is transforming”, Said Haiya.

The FA President expressed optimism that increased partnerships between football institutions and the corporate world will pave the way for long-term success and professional growth in the sport.

Head of Marketing and Communications at First Capital Bank Twikale Chirwa, after unveiling the Sponsorship said, the bank strongly believes in the power of football to transform communities and create meaningful connections with customers following the unveiling of the MK3 billion sponsorship to FCB Nyasa Big Bullets.

In his part the Super League of Malawi (SULOM) President Brigadier General Gilbert Mitawa stated that.

“What the corporate world is doing for our football is beyond my expectations, and this MK3 billion sponsorship is a clear demonstration of confidence in the growth and potential of the game in Malawi”.

As SULOM, we are optimistic that such investments will continue to transform our football into a more professional and commercially viable sport. Our Revive, Rebrand and Reform is really on the right track”Mitawa said.

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets finished as runners up in the 2025/2026 Super League of Malawi season and managed to grab two trophies, defending the Airtel Top 8 and winning the Castel Ibongetse Challenge Cup after defeating Goshen City Dedza Dynamos 2-1 at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.
