Winning drought hits hard Creck Sporting Club in FDH Waishosha Premiership

2 Min Read

RUMPHI-(MaraviPost)-Creck Sporting Club’s wait for a first victory in the 2026/27 Waishosha FDH Bank Premiership shows no signs of ending after the side suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Moyale Barracks at Rumphi Stadium on Saturday.

The result means Creck remain trapped in a difficult run of form, having failed to register a win in their opening five league matches.

The latest setback leaves the club sitting in 15th position on the log table as pressure continues to mount on the team to turn performances into points.

Moyale Barracks needed just four minutes to find the breakthrough when Lucky Mkandawire reacted quickest to score after Creck goalkeeper Rahaman Ally had initially saved an effort from Charles Nkhoma.

The early goal gave the hosts a dream start and forced Creck to chase the game for the remainder of the afternoon.

Despite falling behind, Creck created several opportunities to get back into the contest. Ramadan Ntafu was presented with a golden chance in the 20th minute after finding himself one-on-one with goalkeeper Jeremiah Simfukwe but his weak effort was comfortably collected.

At the break, Moyale carried a slim 1-0 advantage, but the scoreline hardly reflected Creck’s determination to rescue something from the encounter.

The second half saw Creck enjoy the majority of possession as they pushed numbers forward in search of a breakthrough.

However, Moyale remained organised at the back and relied on quick counterattacks whenever opportunities arose.

A controversial moment arrived in the 69th minute when Chikwata was brought down inside the penalty area.

Creck players and officials appealed passionately for a penalty, but referee David Chinoko dismissed the claims and ordered play to continue.

As frustration began to grow, Creck introduced fresh legs from the bench, hoping to inject new energy into their attack. Yet Moyale’s defence stood firm and continued to frustrate the visitors.

The afternoon ended on a sour note for Creck when goalkeeper Rahaman Ally was shown a red card in the 89th minute for handling the ball outside the penalty area.

Reduced to ten men, the visitors had little chance of mounting a late comeback.

When the final whistle sounded, Moyale had secured all three points thanks to their early strike and disciplined defensive display.

Goalkeeper Jeremiah Simfukwe, who produced several crucial saves throughout the match, was deservedly named Man of the Match.

Speaking after the game, Moyale coach Prechard Mwasa praised his players for grinding out the result despite not producing their best football.

Creck coach Elijah Kananji, meanwhile, admitted that football can sometimes be cruel, saying his side had played well in phases but once again failed to get the result they needed.
