Malawi’s Nkhata Bay police officer arrested for sodomy

NKHATABAY-(MaraviPost)-The Malawi Police in the Lake shore District of Nkhata Bay are keeping in custody a fellow officer for allegedly sodomising a taxi driver on Tuesday.

According to reports, the arrested officer, Sub – Inspector Richard Mvula, committed the offence, while on duty as a traffic officer at Matete Road Block at Chintheche in the District.

Upon finding the taxi driver guilty, he took him to their office where he ased him to pay a fine for the offence.

But while at the office, Sub – Inspector Mvula changed his behaviour and started to cuddle and sexually harass the driver. It is at this point that the driver reported the matter to Nkhata Bay Police Station.

while confirming the news, Nkhata Bay Police Officer-in-Charge, Mike Chona, said the suspect is indeed in their custody and he is charged with unnatural offence but he is yet to appear in court soon.

Sub – Inspector Richard Mvula hails from Chimpoko Village, Traditional Authority (T.A) Kabunduli in the district.
