Defected DPP members to MCP

CHIKWAWA-(MaraviPost)-In what could be described as end of year political shocker, the governing Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has been taken unawares with the unceremonious exit of over 100 district and constituency committee members who have dumped the party and eventually joined the Malawi Congress Party (MCP).

The fresh harvest was welcomed in a symbolic ceremony that took place over the weekend in Nchalo amid MCP officials with the party’s campaign directorate at the helm of things.

Led by DPP Constituency Governor for Chikwawa Central, the 117 catch was initiated into MCP camp through wearing of colours of their new party distributed on behalf of the party leadership by National Campaign Director, Moses Kumkuyu.

Tembo now a fully branded MCP member said he was more than happy to have been received in the party, which has proven to be the best political entity in the land.

“My joining MCP together with such a large group is a clear indication that people here in Chikwawa have lost trust in the DPP,” said Tembo.

He said, he together with other members arrived at the decision exiting DPP after they were fully convinced of the party without direction as he revealed of leadership malaise in the party.

“The party suffers leadership crisis even at constituency and district level and with the way things are standing on the political scene, MCP stands out tall as the best on the block.”

In his powerful address during the function, MCP National Campaign Director, Moses Kumkuyu expressed confidence in the leadership of his party, stressing traces of sound leadership with a clear vision that Malawians would like to have towards the future.

“It is only MCP, which has demonstrated ability to lead Malawians with the kind of leadership of thier choice,” he said.

“Whenever you see people coming out of the ruling party to join us who are currently in opposition you should regard it as a great sign of big things that are yet to come through the will of God,” added Kumkuyu.

On the court case, Kumkuyu said the party had its own tally centre which clearly indicated that Lazarus Chakwera of MCP had won but then when the actual truth was twisted, the party went to court to seek justice so that justice could prevail.

He said through the power of prayer, the case went on smoothly with tangible evidence provided before court and now the party awaits for judgement so that Malawi should truthfully win.

Also in attendance was the party’s Regional Chairman for the South, Peter Simbi and other National Executive Committee (NEC) members
