LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has appointed Clement Kafwafwa as Team Manager for the Malawi Men’s National football team (the Flames) replacing James Sangala.
Sangala was doubling as Flames’ Team Manager and Youth Football Development Officer.
FAM anounced the appointment in the statement released on Tuesday saying, its a way of the association’s strategic structuring processes and it will enable Sangala to concentrate more on enhancing FAM’s Youth Development programmes.
Gunda said, “During the first FAM’s Executive meeting, it was noted that when Sangala was doubling, there was a gap in the coordination of Youth Development programmes due to the busy Flames’ schedule.
“The association is running Youth Development programmes and Sangala’s full time presence will be vital to efficiently execute these programmes.”
Reacting to the news, Clement Kafwafwa sounded very happy and so thankful to God for being considered to take the role at this time when Malawians are really desperate for the Flames’ results.
“I really thank God for this appointment. I know it’s God who planned for this thing to come to me today and I really praise Him for this task that I have been given.
“It is going to be a challenging job considering that many things have changed in between and I will have to adapt to new systems as well.
“However, I am very ready to work with the coaches for the Malawi Men’s National football team (the Flames). I know Malawians need good results from their team and this is possible as long as we work together as a team with the Coaches,” said Kafwafwa.
The former Malawi National football team player returns to the position he once served under Coach Ernest Mtawali from July, 2015 to July, 2016.
