Mzuzu-(Maravi Post)– After a long journey of being grateful in poetry since in the year 2012, a well-know poet, Yona Mlakatuli is set to release ‘Angendeni’ on mid-February.

Yona said the poem ‘Angendeni’ is a remedy of telling people who do not add value to others.

“The message in this poem is to encourage people to surround themselves with those who add value in their life other than wasting time to certain specific humans who always bring down others,” Yona explained.

According to Yona the poem is the last in a series of his poems he has ever released since he joined poetry and he looks forward to launch an album in future.

Among the poems Yona has ever released are: Mbufwiti, Pala Wanikola Apa, Mwandisiyiranji, Swagala Yachimidzi, Kamwali and Kachislam whereby Poetry Association of Malawi (PAM) helped him to distribute to media houses to be aired.

Angendeni will be recorded at MJ Studios in Mzuzu with the producer Ovachi.

Mlakatuli said poetry wins all ways.

“Poetry wins in all ways because it is the aspect of literature that helps in preserving Malawian culture, informs, educates and entertains,” Mlakatuli explained.

The 22 years-old Yona Mlakatuli said his goals are to reach a huge populace through poetry.
