BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)—Malawi has recorded additional five covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of confirmed cases to 284.

A statement from the Ministry of Health and signed by the Co-chairperson of the Presidential Task Force Dr. John Phuka says the new cases were identified among 47 Malawian residents who were screened at Kamuzu International Airport as they were returning from Europe through a chartered plane.

This means that cumulatively, the total number of covid-19 cases in Malawi is 284, including four deaths, 42 recoveries while 238 are active cases.

The majority of corona virus cases in Malawi are imported through Malawians returning from abroad, especially South Africa, the epicenter of the pandemic on the continent.
