Prophet Bushiri, wife Mary spend first night in Malawi police cell pending bail

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) church leader Prophet Sheppard Bushiri and wife Mary are spending a night at Lumbadzi’s Malawi police station in the capital Lilongwe.

This follows Lilongwe High court failed to grant the couple a bail on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 after they handed over themselves to law enforcers.

Prophet Bushiri lawyer Khumbo Soko told The Maravi Post that the court was reviewing the details of the case before the bail is granted.

Bushiri was expected to appear before the court Wednesday after but due to security reasons his lawyers were in chambers.

There was cloud of people waiting the couple at court premises until were told that Bushiri would not come.

The man of God has therefore assemble top Malawians lawyers to fight against extradition which South Africa government has issued through warrant of arrest after the couple fled to Malawi for safety.

The couple are facing money laundering and fraud charges in Rainbow nation but Bushiri insisted that will not have fair trial in that country.
