Vote Counting in Zambia
Presidential candidate and Zambia’s opposition leader, Hakainde Hichilema, has criticized the nation’s election commission for the sluggish progress in delivering results for Thursday’s vote

Zambian opposition leader Hakainde Hichilema has alleged the elections are being rigged, as current President Edgar Lungu pulls ahead in the count. Final results have continued to be delayed because of actions by UPND president Hakainde Hichilema.

UPND president Hakainde Hichilema’s conduct at Mulungushi International Conference Centre where the votes for the 2016 elections are being transmitted has been attributed to the delay in announcing the next round.

Hichilema and his team that includes running mate Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba, lawmaker Garry Nkombo and Nevers Mumba have been at Mulungushi holding ECZ official’s hostage.

Hichilema’s crew are demanding that votes for Lusaka province be halted because they don’t reflect his true performance.

ECZ chairperson Esau Chulu was due to announce more constituencies at 14: 30. Only 69 constituencies have so far been announced with President Edgar Lungu leading by 55, 828.
