Community hails outgoing Police Officer-in-Charge Paul Zita for being professional

1 Min Read

In a rare show of appreciation for quality public service delivery, a community in Thete, Dedza yesterday threw a party for out-going police Officer-in-Charge for Thete Police Unit, Paul Zita, who they hail for exceptional work ethic.

Thete market chair, George Kadzakumanja, told Zodiak Online that Zita had good work relations with the community hence the people never attacked the police when disagreements arose.

“He was professional in his handling of issues,” Kadzakumanja said.

Zita has served at the unit for 15 years.

New Officer-in-Charge for Dedza, Assistant Commissioner Mwiza Nyoni, thanked people of Thete for recognising the good work which a police officer had done in their midst.

There have been hostile relationships between police and different communities in Malawi, and in some cases communities demolish police units and stations whenever there is disagreement.

But with some reforms, some positive strides have been registered in bringing the community and police together.
