19-year-old Italian Atalanta midfielder Andrea Rinaldi has died after battling with brain aneurysm at a hospital in Varese.

The club president Giovanni Munafo confirmed this on club’s official website on Monday morning of May 11, 2020.

In the statement Munafo has described the midfielder as an extraordinary boy who was exemplary for everyone.

A report by Daily Star revealed that Rinaldi fell ill on Friday while training at home due to the coronavirus lockdown before he was taken to hospital where he was admitted to intensive care unit due to brain aneurysm.

Rinaldi who was expected to turn 20 on June 23 started playing in Atalanta academy when he was 13 years old and later helped the Under-17 side pick up the Scudetto and the Supercoppa Italiana.

Before his demise, Rinaldi spent the season on loan at Serie D side Legnano and had been a key figure for Legnano this season, making 23 appearances in the league and scoring one goal.
