FLORIDA-(MaraviPost)-Beheaded Jesus Christ statue has been discovered at Florida church in United States of America

A statue of Jesus Christ with its head lopped off was spotted Wednesday, July 14, 2020.

The brazen act of blasphemy occurred between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church courtyard in the Miami suburb of West Kendall.

Deacon Edivaldo da Saliva discovered the headless monument that had also been toppled from its pedestal, reported Miami TV station WPLG.

“This is an attack on the church,” Mary Ross Agosta, a spokeswoman for the Archdiocese of Miami told the Miami Herald. “This is not only private property, it is sacred property.”

The Miami archdiocese told the station it expects cops to treat this shameless desecration as a hate crime.

“This is another attack on the Catholic Church which is happening across the country,” lamented da Saliva.

The statue’s head was discovered on the ground around 8 a.m. on Wednesday.

“This is not something you can trip over and say, ‘Oh, sorry,‘” said Ross Agosta. “Someone did this intentionally.”

She added that surveillance footage was being scrutinized by police, according to The Associated Press.

“People find peace at these types of places, especially during these times,” said police spokesman Argemis Colome. “We want to ensure the community that (the Miami-Dade Police Department) will look into the matter so people can continue to feel safe.”

The church is reportedly employing an overnight security guard.
