CHITIPA-(MANA)-Chitipa United Football Club on Sunday hummered Blue Eagles Football Club by a goal to nil at Chitipa Stadium in the TNM Super League game where President Lazarus Chakwera watched second half of the game.
Chitipa United collected maximum points by beating Area 30 boys 1-0 with a thunderous shot of Nelson Sikaona in the 36th minute .
Chitipa United-Blue Eagles game is the second TNM Super League game to be played at the 15,000 capacity Chitipa Stadium since Football Association of Malawi (FAM) approved the venue to be hosting elite football matches.
Chitipa United Coach, Kondwani Ikwanga, applauded his boys for playing classic soccer in front of the first citizen.
“My boys played according to instruction. We used tactics that were used against Mighty Wanderers in Blantyre. I have seen that it is working,” Ikwanga said.
His counterpart, Blue Eagles Coach Derklerk Msakakuona, praised his soldiers for displaying classy football which he said was not their day to win the game.
Chitipa United have moved two steps up from position 12 to 9 with 19 points, while Blue Eagles have moved two steps downwards from position 5 to 7 with 23 points.
Minister of Local Government, Richard Chimwendo Banda; Minister of Information and Digitalisation, Moses Kunkuyu; Chitipa District Commissioner, Frank Mkandawire and Senior Chiefs Kameme, Mwenewenya , Mwenemisuku and Mwabulambya were some of the people who watched the game.
