LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-President Lazarus Chakwera has assured the people of Chigodi that his government will continue supporting women and youth across various sectors.
Speaking during a whistle-stop tour at Chigodi Trading Centre in Lilongwe on Monday, August 18, 2025 Chakwera said his administration remains committed to empowering women and young people in areas such as agriculture, entrepreneurship, and mining.
He emphasised the importance of including these groups in projects that benefit both them and the nation.
“For the past years, my government has ensured that women and youth venture into irrigation farming to secure year-round harvests,” he said.
The President further noted that women and youth should also be involved in mining, as the sector generates additional revenue that directly benefits them.
“As a country, we want more young people and women to become economically self-reliant so that Malawi can progress,” Chakwera added.
In his remarks, Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Central Region Chairman Patrick Zebron Chilondola praised Chakwera for reshaping Malawi’s political landscape, noting that the country has undergone significant change under his leadership.
