MZUZU-(MaraviPost)-The second wave of Covid-19 has come with grip scare by claiming lives of important noble men and women.
Just barely two day after a senior lecturer in the Forestry Department of Mzuzu University died of the incessant pandemic of Covid-19, another senior lecturer in the same department has also succumbed to death due to the deadly virus.
According to a memo dated 9 January, 2021 and signed by the University’s registrar, Yonamu Ngwira, the deceased has been identified as Dr Chimuleke Munthali, who passed on during the morning hours of today at Mzuzu Central Hospital.
On the other hand media fraternity has also lost renowned woman broadcaster who was working for privately owned Zodiak Broadcasting Station (ZBS), Maria Chidzanja Nkhoma, due to Covid-19.
Chidzanja Nkhoma was buried on Saturday afternoon, January 9, 2021 at Chinsapo cemetery in the capital Lilongwe.
Since the recent spate of the pandemic in the country, the death toll has alarmingly risen to over 200 with strange number of new cases on daily basis.
As of January 8, 2020, Malawi had 7925 Covid-19 cases with 208 deaths out of 92335 tests since March 2020.
