CSONA calls for collaboration to tackle malnutrition

1 Min Read

The Civil Society Organisation Nutrition Alliance (CSONA) has expressed concern over the lack of collaboration among players in the nutrition sector, citing that working in isolation is exacerbating malnutrition and overweight issues in the country.

According to CSONA National Coordinator, Joseph Gausi, collaborative efforts are crucial in addressing the nutrition challenges facing the nation.

Gausi made the remarks when presenting the progress of the Food Systems Transformative Initiative in Mzimba, highlighting the need for a more coordinated approach to tackle malnutrition.

Gausi’s concerns were echoed by Nutrition Officer for M’mbelwa District Council, Gift Simkonda, who emphasized the importance of promoting diversified diets amongst communities.

Simkonda noted that Mzimba District is still battling with issues of stunting, and hopes that the next phase of the initiative will help address this challenge.

The Food Systems Transformative Initiative aims to promote sustainable food systems and improve nutrition outcomes.

CSONA’s call for collaboration highlights the need for a multi-stakeholder approach to address the complex issues surrounding malnutrition.

The initiative’s success will depend on the ability of stakeholders to work together to promote sustainable food systems and improve nutrition outcomes.
