BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost )- Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) deputy director of women for the Eastern Region,
Jane Mandeula, has resigned from her position, citing irregularities and oppression during the Machinga-Likwenu Constituency primary elections.

Speaking during a press briefing she held on Sunday in the district,Mandeula alleged that senior party officials intimidated delegates and subjected women to violence, forcing them to vote for incumbent MP Bright Msaka, who is also the party’s vice-president for the Eastern Region.

She expressed concern that unchecked oppression against women in political parties hinders the 50-50 campaign’s goals.

Mandeula then announced plans to contest as an independent candidate in the upcoming General Election, pledging support for President Peter Mutharika.
