LILONGWE, Malawi, 19 February 2015 (MaraviPost): Paul Mphwiyo who has said in a Malawi court that lawyer Raphael Kasambara was present when he was being shot, says he has trouble sleeping since the incident he barely survived.
He said he is scared of former Justice Minister Ralphael Kasambara who he accuses of masterminding his shooting.
Paul Mphwiyo is so paranoid he told the court that he is sure that Raphael Kasambara has been tracking his movements. Maybe he has a tracking device on me.
He expressed dismay in court that Mr. Kasambara knew he had travelled to South Africa on 6th-8 August last year.
Paul Mphwiyo when he checked his passport, realized that it was indeed true. That he had travelled to South Africa on those dates.
He also told the court that armed thugs attacked his mother’s residence in Blantyre in August during court proceedings. How does Kasambara seem to know the parameters of my house more than I do” Mphwiyo told a jam-packed Lilongwe High Court yesterday during re-examination on the case.
He also told the court that following his shooting on September 13 2013, he feared to implicate Kasambara because, at that particular time, the latter was holding a position of influence in government.
“He was such a powerful person when he was minister of Justice. When I came back from hospital in South Africa, I learnt that he was no longer minister. That’s when I mentioned his name.
I knew he had no influence to jeopardize the investigations”. Hearing on the case continues today following Judge Michael Mtambo’s decision to adjourn it.
