Five Nigerians arrested for falsely claiming to have contracted Coronavirus

ABUJA-(MaraviPost)-Five Nigerians have been arrested after flounced Wuse District Hospital in Abuja claiming one of them has been infected by Coronavirus.

According to FCT police spokesman DSP Anjuguri Manza, the suspects claimed to have been “playing out a script about the virus” without the knowledge or authorisation of the relevant authorities of the FCTA.

The five suspects who have been identified as Peggy Shandi, Abayomi Adedoyin, David Enemigin, Priscilla Ajesola and Jacob Oji claim to have been playing merely a prank about the coronavirus.

As reported by Punch news, the action by the five suspects sparked panic and confusion and also disrupted normal health service delivery at the hospital.

The Special Assistant to the FCT Minister on Media, Mallam Sani Abubakar described actions of the suspects as being horrific as it disrupted the normal health service delivery process in the hospital and was capable of spreading fear and panic across the FCT and the country.

Meanwhile, FCT Police Command has launched an investigation into the activities of the suspects and they will later be arraigned in court.
