Willy Yabwanya Phiri another tough contender to the incumbent Football Association of Malawi (FAM) President Walter MacMillan Nyamilandu for next week elections has pledged introduction of scholarship to players in pursuing further studies through his foundation.

Yabwanya unveiled a well-simplified and practical manifesto just a day after another presidential aspirant Wilkins Mijiga disclosed his own to the general public a head of FAM elections slated for December 12, 2015 at Nkopola Lodge in the lake district of Mangochi.

Addressing the news conference on Friday, December 4, in the capital Lilongwe, Yabwanya whose candidature come into disrepute due to his stay in Canada, promised provide scholarship for secondary school, college or university studies in a bid to minimize the number of players that struggle with their life after football.

“Having been dealing with players of Karonga United for the past seven years. I discovered that all Malawians players deserve a chance to pursue their academic careers and prepare them for life after soccer.

“Therefore my vision is to support them with bursaries and scholarship. The Willy Yabwanya foundation will provide help players who want to go back to school, colleges or universities to study. This will minimize the number of players that struggle with their lives after soccer and that will be the goal, to change lives of our boys
for the better”, pledges Yabwanya.

Malawi FA’s Presidential hopeful Yabwanya promised also formulation of Malawi Women’s Premier League through FIFA’s competition and league development programs including equipment and clothes for daily training, consultancy in marketing, communication and league structuring financial assistance.

“The way FAM currently distributes revenues to the affiliates in form of meager subventions is far from efficient in the context of developing football in this country. Therefore, I will raise the subventions money from MK150, 000 to MK1 million in my first year and in the year two will reevaluate”, promises Yabwanya.

On grassroots football development, Yabwanya plans to re-introduce under 10, 12, 15, 16, 17 and 18 up to 23 whereby coaches education and training will be paramount in a bid to produce players of exceptional quality to play professionally with arrangements for former Arsenal youth development coach and Australian football federation coaches to come train Malawian coaches on how to develop grassroots soccer.

Willy Yabwanya Phiri is a marker and an automotive expert currently residing in Canada but promised to return home and concentrate more on running FAM than its own business as his stay in Canada is temporal when his wish to live in Malawi once elected in a bid to develop Malawian football.

The incumbent Walter Nyamilandu is expecting to launch his manifesto on Saturday, December 4 at Crossroads Hotel and later in evening on the same will take part in the FAM Presidential Debate Zodiak Broadcasting Cooperation (ZBS) has organized in a bid to allow the public know what its stock for them in developing football for the
