Former MBC boss Aubrey Sumbuleta granted bail

Corporation (MBC) Director-General Aubrey Sumbuleta is on forced leave due to sexual harassment allegations

High Court Judge Justice Dr. Chifundo Kachale has granted bail to Aubrey Sumbuleta, former Director General of Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC).

His lawyer Gift Katundu said his client has been ordered to deposit cash bond of K500,000, surrender title deeds for his house in Mpingwe, Blantyre, present two sureties bonded at K250 and will have to be reporting to Limbe Police station every Sunday.

The date to commence trial has not been communicated.

Sumbuleta was arrested on 17 April over sexual harassment and abuse of allegations and was remanded at Maula Prison in Lilongwe.
