“The only thing to let us open these offices is for the council to pay us our three months salary. On top of that we shall continue boycotting our work,” said Harawa.

“Why should we face this always despite our effort in doing our mandated work such collecting taxes, driving the bosses as well as sweeping the market premises?”

According to Harawa, the development has made them to go into unnecessary loans apart from other selling their properties.

However, this reporter fails to hear the side of the council officials because no one was answering his or her call.

This is not the second time for the workers to forcibly close the council offices.

Recently, workers of Phalombe district council also shutdown the council offices due to unpaid three months salary.
